A funny thing happened on the way to the pub last night.

I left work and out the front door of my office onto the street last night and straight into the front wheel of a motorbike parked on the pavement almost blocking the front door.
Normally I just curse and keep going but today, right there were two of Geneva s finest handing out crisp clean fines to a motorist who had committed the unthinkable act of not displaying his little parking clock.
Oi, I said, No No No No NO!
How come these bikes sit here in absolute undisturbed misdemeanourship and the motorist cops a big one.
Well he said tapping the side of his nose in a surprisingly similar fashion to Plod back home, we`re under instructions.
What instructions I asked?
It would appear that those in the unchallenged halls of power in Geneva`s hilly old town have decided to leave the bikes alone and only fine cars!
Im shocked. Later on that evening, as you do in the pub, I became the local future candidate for our area promising equal punishment for all.
This morning however, the Paracetamol search is more pressing.
I did, however, find it a little galling being a motorist an all. For the bikers in Geneva, go for it! you ll be fine.fine as in ok not fine as in fined < headslap !

Re: A funny thing happened on the way to the pub last night.

We've had a car parked right up to the doorway of our office entrance.

Problem was that it was entirely on private property, so the cops couldn't do anything about it...

Was the bike in the same situation, i.e. off public property and on private property?

Did they have a bicycle pump on the bike?

Not that I, a respectable and upstanding member of the community, would suggest letting down their tyres, but...............

A "no" would have sufficed

That'll teach me not to read the OP in detail

Probably for the best. If the biker didn't notice that the tyres were deflated, then he might lose control at high speed, then you could be facing a manslaughter charge.

Think the main point is that there is a political decision to allow discrimination between road users
