Pharmacies open (or not) over Easter

Got home after my 4:30 doctor's appointment to find out that the pharmacy in my building closed early - boo! It's also closed tomorrow - double boo! I have to go to the station tomorrow to get my prescription, meaning that I only have weak painkillers to last me until then. Anyone else been caught out like that? I might try red wine as a substitute...

If you get a free paper in your area (normally also available in the Kiosks for a small charge), it should have a list of open pharmacies somewhere inside.

Better than suffering, eh?

Red wine has always worked for me, but stay clear of the gin if your feeling a little down

We do, I'll have a dig around my recycling box. I know the pharmacy at the train station will be open tomorrow and I have weaker painkillers to last me until then (plus a bottle of red, should I need it). Thanks for the advice!

Don't know what kind of pain you are suffering from but a nice warm bath might be some additional help to the paracetamol and red wine.

There's an out-of-hours pharmacy in Basel - opposite the university hospital. When everything is shut - it's open. I'd kind of expect there to be something in other cantons. Or is Basel the last bastion of civilisation (as we suspect it to be).

It's a muscular contraction in my neck. I'm wearing a neck brace (nice and sweaty) but we don't have a bath. I had a hot shower and will press a hot water bottle against it when I take this bloomin' thing off!

Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to wait it out for tonight, but will go first thing tomorrow. I have something between paracetamol and what I've been prescribed. To be fair, it's not the worst pain I've ever had (although this morning it was much, much worse). It's character-building . Thanks again for the info!

Expect a surcharge of 20 CHf for the service out of hours.

AFAIK all cantons provide a phone number to find out the current drugstore and doctor on guard.

If you have enough wine, who needs the pharmacy

On a more serious note, hope you are able to get a decent night's sleep.

Heathens!

So if I came down to the Ticino tomorrow; walked into a hotel, and slammed 4 six-inch nails down on the counter, and asked if they could put me up over Easter; they wouldn't give me a second glance? .... cool.

Whoever said Catholicism wasn't progressive?

Was this a result of your "See CH in a week tour"?

Now I bet that's a story.

Re: Pharmacies open (or not) over Easter

Haha no, it wasn't! It actually prevented me going on one of my stops.

However, the good news is that, although still painful, it's muuuuuch better today. I think I may even go somewhere after lunch today!
