We are taking the piss out of you.
That's because you have been one of the more amusing members to have joined recently, with your insistence on getting the wrong end of the stick then beating everyone over the head with it in every thread you touch.
It's worth knowing that this forum is a community: Switzerland is a very small country, and quite a lot of members know each other personally. There is a lot of banter, including, somewhat inevitably, a fair amount of in-joking, and good natured ribbing, mixed in with an awful lot of genuinely helpful advice and a real sense of shared experience.
Sometimes a new member will join with a dozy question, or an unjustified sense of entitlement or just a plain bad attitude. That member will have the piss mercilessly ripped from him/her until s/he sorts her/himself out or leaves. The new member's response to the piss taking determines, to a large extent, the kind of reception s/he will receive.
Many of the best loved and most appreciated members started out on a bad foot, which soon got sorted out as they began to understand how it works here. Grumpygit has already explained this to you elsewhere on the forum.
So, no. We are not obsessed by you. We are amused by you.
But please do feel free to continue taking personal offence at everything that's written. We love your sort as you make the best sport. | The following 4 users would like to thank for this useful post: | | This user groans at for this post: | |

If the OP is now earning 54,000 euro in Ireland, 70,000 in Zuerich will be a severe drop in living standards

I think it will be a bit tight living on 70K in Switzerland.
I found Switzerland really expensive after moving from London, even though I am on a higher salary than this and later on realized that I should have negotiated my Salary with my employer before.
Although life is pretty good here and if you do most of your shopping from France or Germany, then you will be olrite.
If its not too late, try negotiating your salary a bit.
Cheers
S

I think you and your friends are bullies. I can completely avoid you and continue to post here. I could also come to Switerland and never encounter you or your bully friends no matter how "small" of a place it is.
You don't know anything about me. If you think your threats scare me, you're confused.
I am happy you find me to be amusing, the feeling is mutual.
To the OP, I think 70k is a tough sell. I couldn't survivie on that in the US and it's much less expensive here. As a single person, I think you will survive but I hope you have pushed to be reviewed after a brief amount of time and have the opportunity to be promoted.
Goodluck!!

S | | | | | I earn much the same here as I did when I worked near London. I actually have a bigger, nicer apartment here that I could get for the same price in London, I spend more on food here, but far less on publlic transport. I frequently travel to other places for weekends and am thoroughly enjoying spending vacation times exploring both Switzerland and other countries.
At the end of each month I have much the same amount left over - and ALWAYS do have money left over. Living on 70,000chf is definitely above "survival" level, plus the general quality of life here is healthy, safe and as varied as anyone chooses to make it.

And your knowledge of what is a good salary in Switzerland comes from...? | | | | | Based on the fact that 70k is not a lot here and it's a lot more expensive there. You really need to find someone else to pick on and "take the piss" out of. Whatever that means.

Taking the piss = teasing.
Usually applied to people who take themselves too seriously, overreact to jokes, take things personally which weren't directed at them in the first place, &c.
