Re: Rain storms!

For me I agree !!!

The smell of fresh air from the rain always makes me feel good.

The first decent clap of thunder always signifies the begining of SUMMER WEATHER for me.

Is there nothing better than sitting on a balcony somewhere after a long hot day just as a thunderstorm pulls over........ beer in hand (or alternative prefered beverage)

As for smells...the smell of ozone before a lightening storm...pure excitement. The best are in SE Asia during monsoon. In Malaysia they have these gutters by the side of the road 3 feet across and 6 feet deep and they get almost instantly filled by the rain. Amazing.
Wait till those gutters overflow..... this was Singapore's Orchard Road last year:

Probably the saddest picture of them all:

I still love the rain though!

Akshully, I love the sunshine too. I don't know which I'd choose if I could only have one style of weather for the rest of my life...

2-3 days of rain per week would be ideal..rest sunny and partly sunny..that is my wish...Chicago where I lived for most of my life and consider to be my home city spring/summer would have a ideal pattern usually....it would get sunny but comfortable, than hotter and more humid and right before the storm it was like a sauna...afterwards of course it would get incredibly humid usually...so every week or two you would have your nice storm with quite often very wild winds..

Re: Rain storms!

I have twice been out on Lake Lucerne on one of the cruise boats during heavy rain. In their own way, they are just as entertaining as a sunny cruise.

The first time, there was a double rainbow from Burgenstock to Rigi.

The second time was just over a week ago when there was a heavy hail storm that didn't last very long.

Pictures included here:

Re: Rain storms!

Despite storms being forecast in my location since yesterday evening, there's at best been only a couple of hours of rain this morning, which has now stopped, with the sun now trying to break through.

That's barely satisfied my garden, let alone kept the farmers happy, or replenished the lakes.

It has stopped over here. Only one miserable hour.

And we didnt even get any last night (rain that is!) whilst it poured down in the city. I mean, we pay taxes here too you know. I want my money back.

Re: Rain storms!

My parents are visiting this weekend so I am slightly annoyed that it's raining for the first time in living memory - especially since we have a night booked in a hotel in the Berner Oberland on Sunday. We need the rain though, so I won't complain too much.

As to my favourite weather... I like the crisp, clear days that we often get here in October, but am also a fan of watching massive evening thunderstorms over the lake from my balcony. Might be getting a few of those this weekend !

Re: Rain storms!

I love sunshine and warm days.

But after few days, I like to have a great tunderstorm. I like to look at the trees and be able to predict when it is going to happen, I like to see the blue sky cut with very dark cloud. I am getting excited at the idea of a strong rain and tunder.

The smell of rain coming, the fresh air after the rain... Hummm! I love to sit on my balcony an enjoy the view of lightning!

We got lots of rain this morning but I was disapointed to not have any tunder...

Very heavy rain and some thunder at about 8 this morning in Neuchâtel... didn't last long though, and was last seen heading in the general direction of Zürich...

Re: Rain storms!

Nothing worse than a promising heavy dark cloud with pounding thunders that leaves your area without delivering a drop of rain. It's like a date with a wonderful woman who left only the smell and billow of her perfume.
