I dunno what kind of rainstorms you folks have been getting in Zurich... here in Graubuenden we still have a ban on open fires because of the lack of rain (and snow during the winter) Really puts a damper on the BBQ season |

Do you want me to nudge Flumserberg to one side for a bit to let the rain through?

| | Re: Rain storms! | Quote: | | | | | Being English, I'm genetically constructed to find satisfaction in talking about the weather.
Anyway, these crazy storms we're having with thunder and lightening and the sound of rain falling into the fireplace and the look of it cascading in sheets across my window pane... well, it pleases me mightily!
It's quite romantic, is it not?
Are you into it too? What is your favourite weather? | | | | | Romantic ? No, at worst frightening and at best depressing And the look of the rain cascading in sheets across the window pane is boring and sad
************************************************** ************* | Quote: | | | | | This is my favourite weather. Clear, blue skies continuously, tend to bore me. I love the drama and the noise of a stormy day, and I hope it keeps up for the whole weekend! | | | | | No, my favourite weather is 28 degrees centigrade in the shadow, the water of the lake 25 degrees, the weather dry, while a short shower of 10 minutes after midnight is acceptable.
************************************************** ************************** | Quote: | | | | | I hope it rains abundantly all over Switzerland, goodness knows we need the water for the crops. And I am also very partial to a thunderstorm, although not the hail - it spoils the strawberries. | | | | | The problem with rains in Switzerland is the danger that, once it started, it will not end for months

There anyway was no ban on open fires in the Canton of Zurich. And now, the "draught" problem is over here.
If you in Graubünden continue to have a draught-problem I suggest that you try it with establishing some nice Cactus-plantations |

Discovered at 1:30 am that there were two windows open, as the wind tried to close the bedroom door. The resulting door noise woke me up, so I got to enjoy the wonderful thunder and lightning until the storm passed.
Except for the door I haven't slept that well for a while. Rain helps me sleep better.

As gardener, the rainstorms have been very welcome; the drought here has been damaging. In fact, we need even more rain...
(Never thought I'd utter those words here in Switzerland. )
However with the rain and cooler temps comes the plague of slugs. I killed 547 of the evil blighters while touring the garden this morning - sadly, not in time to rescue my lupines.

I dont like thunder storms. They are not good for my bodily functions. They make me wet my pants and constipated for days.
