Bizarre Behaviour exchanging a HD
My Apple Time Capsule broke down after 2 months of use, suddenly, no power, so I took it back to Manor the other night for a replacement. All packed back up in original box, but discovered I'd left the lead behind when I got to the shop and they wouldn't accept it, OK, I live close by, I tell them I'll be back shortly with the lead.
Get back with the lead, the guy plugs it in, and there's no power, problem confirmed. First the guy says they have to send it to apple, I'm telling him it's my backup drive, and I need a replacement now, he says something about it having to be purchased less than three months ago, I show him the receipt, I bought it two months ago, so off he goes to find his super. After a bit of milling around he comes back with a new box.
Great! I think, I'll be on my way in no time.
The guy then proceeds to carefully try and open the celophane packaging with a knife, really carefully, as if he's hoping to sellotape it up after, unfortuantely, the packaging gets the better of him and he ends up ripping it off.
He then checks the contents of the new box against mine, it contains a lead, the cds and manuals, and the HD. Mine contains a lead, uonpened cds and manuals, and the HD. He tells me he can only replace the hard drive, takes the harddrive out of the new box, takes mine out of the old box, and swaps them over, I'm just looking at him in astonishment. Why, I'm wondering, did he just not take my box, and give me the new one?
In case it's the lead, he tells me.
