| | What Should We Bring?
Hey folks, after reading the Complaints Forum, I can see many people complaining about the prices (too much) or the lack of things.
Considering that we're so used to living all over the world and used to getting things easily and relatively cheaply here in the Hague (from British Pie to Malay/Indonesian Sambal to exotic fishes and fruits), So here's my question, any advice on what things we should stock on for our move? I'll be hiring a HUUUUGE container to bring everything over.
We also have 3 kids with varied interests and taste for food/toys/etc..
Thanks you all!

Poffertje mix. I'll buy as much as you can bring.
You'll be fine. You are moving to Basel so will have access to French supermakets, German (they stock vla) as well as Swiss and the Asian and Turkish shops. If you cook from scratch, it won't be a problem.

Basically anything and everything you can fill that container with, go for it! With the low Euro, best to see how far it gets you in the Netherland because it will not go as far as it use to in CH. (...furniture, crockery, pots, pans, toys, clothes, etc etc)

Whenever I am in Den Haag I load up on Surinaamse Pindakaas from the little shops in Paul Krugerlaan. What I would really like to bring is the entire Paul Krugerlaan, but it doesn't fold well. If you are going there anyway, could you pick me up a jar as well?

I'm going to bring some Marmite with me! Only those tiny jars available in Albert Heijn, but in my visits to Switzerland so far I have not been able to find it....

Selection isn't great, but it is there...

Thanks you all! | | | | | Lets say a mutual friend forgot to do this and got into a whole lot of pain at the border, I'm sure you know this story by now!
You need this. Note no more than 200L of wine, although only 12l of Vodka <sigh>. Every box, item etc must be listed, purchase dates values etc. In practice they see the form and ignore the list. Without a list = problems http://www.ezv.admin.ch/zollinfo_pri...2gpKfo&lang=en
Read this http://www.ezv.admin.ch/zollinfo_pri...x.html?lang=en
And Note this.. Within the scope of the tax and duty free limit of CHF 300, foodstuffs (excluding alcoholic beverages), for private consumption in one’s own household are basically duty free to the extent that they are imported personally while travelling.
With regard to sensitive agricultural products in accordance with section 2, there are, however, the limits mentioned below on quantities, all quantities exceeding these limits, regardless of their value, are always liable to taxation. Furthermore, should the total value of the goods imported exceed CHF 300, then all the goods will be liable to taxation. Adding together (accumulation) of the tax-free limit for several persons is forbidden. | This user would like to thank for this useful post: | |
