There are health benefits, the claims and the science are quite sound.
If urine was healthy, of course I would be drinking it. Sure beats some of the Swiss beer.

Just to recap , you would let your own personal disgust get in the way of health benefits to your son ?
Nothing sound about that science, if the snot itself would give "health benefits" gods knows where your hand has been all day?

http://www.ranker.com/list/top-10-di...ery-day/joanne

and I guess that people are not first disinfecting their hands and then going for some snot

Yes I already forbid my son to eat his own snot, and I would look for alternative "medicine" for my son...

So you prefer cherry-picking to snot picking then.

Seeriously, I cannot understand how people who are munching away on their Surströmming all day can be offended by a little bit of snot

Never ate the damn fish not even smelled it

I never said (I think) that I was offended, disgusted yes, offended no...

All I wanted to know if this habit is seen as something disgusting or acceptable here in Switzerland (teacher - parent talk is coming up )

It seemed that the disgusting Austrian doctor only made some theoretical assumptions...

Re: Eating snot?

Surprised no ones mentioned ear wax yet - now that is bitter - as opposed to saltiness of the other.

I see much picking, but haven't really become aware of the eating. Strangely, I see it most when driving, observing the other drivers. This is probably the fundamental reason why Swiss drivers don't have a free hand to operate their indicator stalk, when making a turn or exiting a roundabout.

What gets me is the amount of men, (and I have never seen a woman do it), who I see in my rear view mirror picking their noses and eating it whilst sitting in traffic!!!
What else can you do in a traffic jam?
