They both spoke about tremendous business and a nice advantage over the competitioners in other countries |

Best Regards,
Carlos Vales | | | | | It means that arriving passengers can go shopping in the Duty Free Shop, after having gone through immigration, while waiting for the luggage. This means that they no longer have to do their duty-free shopping on departure, but can wait until arrival. And while being careful about the total, can even split their purchases between the airport of departure and the airport of arrival. And for Zurich Airport it means sales of more than 40 mio CHF per year.

I'm very excited....if they offer the choice of whiskies you find at Stanstead or other good airports and priced in GBP. However, if they offer the choice of whiskies you find at Luton, but priced in CHF.....nope, not interested.

THE NUANCE GROUP: - Downtown Duty Free Pty. Ltd., Australia
 - F1RST Tax and Duty Free, Australia
 - Lojas Francas de Portugal SA, Portugal
 - Net Magaza Isletmeciligi Ve Ticaret A.S., Turkey
- Nuance-Watson (HK) Ltd. Partnership, Hong Kong
 - Nuance-Watson (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
 - Ocean Trading Ltd., United Kingdom
- SYD Airport Tax and Duty Free, Australia
is owned by the PAM Group in Venezia and the PAI Group in Paris by 50% each and so is not simply a "Swiss" company. I think that their prices are competitive, not least as, just like Mr Kern said, the competition is NOT in downtown here but in airports around the globe

The Duty Free Shop there is done by Dufry AG http://www.dufry.com/en/OurCompany/ContactHQ/index.htm
who right now is in the final stage of opening its arrival duty free shop at BSL MLH airport at the end of June. I suppose, part of the relative delay was caused by the French Gendarmerie being in charge with ALL of the airport, while French customs only is for the French side. As they apparently have overcome these hurdles so swiftly, they must be good.

I checked this out yesterday, decent selection, but prices didn't seem especially cheap.

How does this work? I thought the whole idea of not paying duty was that you were exporting the goods from the departure country.
If they're saying that the area before customs is duty free, then why restrict it to airports? Why not have bonded warehouse outlets too? P.S. I ain't complainin'. It just seems odd. |

The zone between passport-control and customs is outside Swiss customs territory. If you want to sell anything in that zone, you do NOT import the stuff if coming from abroad but keep it in transit, and you HAVE to EXport the merchandise if it is of Swiss origin.
Many companies with outlets in bonded warehouses make outlet-sales from time to time. It is YOUR business as a buyer to IMport whatever you purchase. You however cannot do duty free sales on either Bodensee or Genfersee as they are clearly divided territorium-wise and are NOT offduty.
