Outside New York and Miami, US car-drivers are generally a bit sleepy.

And what is wrong with car-driving in Zürich and Geneva ? In Zürich people drive as if car-driving would become prohibited in 90 minutes, in Geneva people drive as if car-driving would have become prohibited 90 minutes ago
Wolli, are you unfamiliar with the legendary Masshole driving style? I've driven all over the world and, well, Bostonians rank at the top of my list for fast, aggressive and often dangerous/stupid driving. See http://www.masshole.com/driving.html

And, after driving in Germany all weekend where, even when doing a solid 170 in a 120, I still got my doors blazed by every damn BMW within 200km. I enjoyed the trip until we hit CH where suddenly, everything ground to 100kph and stayed there. No speeders out on the road last night at all. I love a rebel, which is essentially why I don't think Switzerland and I will be together long.

I don't know Boston in fact. But I know Philadelphia, Atlanta, New Orleans, SFO and LA, and would NOT describe their driving style as sleepy. What I had in mind were the Carolinas, out of NewOrleans Lousiana, and most of all the State of Texas

find that quite racist...
the correct word is "xenophobe", but if you get addressed by such expressions, you have to ignore it, to ignore it absolutely

I have to agree fully with Grumpygit ...... get in there first, don't wait to be hit regardless of their age or gender if they look like they're going to hitor be abusive - GIVE IT 'EM ...... BIG TIME
Sometimes I think this whole passive agressive bumbing into each other is just a game refined by expats who reinforce each other and think "all the others are doing it too, I'll teach them!"

.. I never get bumbed into.

If I get bumped into in other countries, I immediately check my purse to make sure it's closed, wallet still there, etc.
You should be careful with that. You just advertised where your stuff is.

There was a story a few years back about a gang hanging around a poster advising people to watch out for pickpockets. When they saw the sign, people often patted the pocket where their wallet was.

There's a whole lotta country outside of those cities And Southerners have their moments in crazy driving.

Try Boston sometime. I often recommend that the best tactic is to drive aggressively with one hand on the wheel and one finger out the window. It's not Mexico City, but it's pretty close at times.

Maybe your face looks like a bicycle pedal and people just want
to tramp it.
