My family is moving to Zurich at the end of the month. I am looking for a school to put my daughter in this fall. Does anyone know of a Montessori kindgarden that doesn't have a waitlist?

Be persistent - the ones to try that I know of are:

d'Insle Montessori schule
Lip Schule
Rietberg

They all have 3-6 as well as 6-12 programmes (Primary school).

There is a Montessori school at Belvoir in Zürich-Enge. I don't know much about it. Except that my teacheress in 2nd Kindergarten-Class was an educated Montessori teacher, just having changed due to having had children of her around. That Mrs H... in the "Sprachheilkindergarten" by that change lost lots of money but became legendary in the whole quarter and was really appreciated.

They are bilingual schools (German/English), and by the end of primary school, trilingual, as French is also introduced. I think Lipschule also has a Mandarin language programme...

Could you one tell me roughly what rates are for Montesorri school. We have a three year old and live round the corner from Rietberg Montessori in Enge.

We currently have the little chap in a local Kitta but we're really thinking he might be better off elsewhere.

Around 1800-2000chf per month for 5 days per week, school terms. Depends if they offer half-day, or whether you need full-time care. However, it's normal at Montessori kindergarten that they must be there at minimum five mornings...

They all seem to offer vacation care, and there's usually an 'all in' price which is cheaper for parents who really do use full time care, all year round.

You will find some price variation, but not much. However, local Kitta/Krippe sometimes are government subsidised, so that's when the price drops for people on lower incomes.

I suggest you phone and ask. Certainly it's work taking a look to see if it suits your needs...I think Rietberg is run by a 'stiftung' (association, non profit) rather than being privately owned and run...
