The holiday calendar states it was on June 5th for CH

Agreed, yes it was about 2 weeks ago for those in CH. Other countries celebrate on other dates, for US and some others it was 19 June.

Except for Ticino, Italian speaking parts of Grigioni, and perhaps some other areas, where it is on March 19. My daughter was surprised to learn that it isn't March 19 in the whole of CH! She did wish me a happy "American Father's Day" yesterday, though.

Re: Fathers Day this Sunday?

Did they get it wrong then for TI ? They still claim it to be on June 5th.

Yes.

From this:

"La festa del papà quest'anno cadrà di sabato, 19 marzo 2011."

(it's always on the 19th, and is a holiday, i.e. everything closed)

Or, from here:

"il Ticino, dal 1934, considera il giorno di San Giuseppe giorno festivo, a differenza degli altri Cantoni svizzeri"

The article states that even while the holiday originated in the US, Italy, Ticino, Lichtenstein, and some other places decided to make the date March 19th, and that in Ticino it's a public holiday, unlike the other Swiss Cantons.

Re: Fathers Day this Sunday?

It's always the third Sunday in June apparently. So this year it's the 17th.

Re: Fathers Day this Sunday?

It has been a very special day for us today indeed because our son started walking all by himself. He will turn 1 year old on the 1st of July 2021. Will never forget this awesome day
