That's true. My office mate is always with a glass of water these days. | Quote: | | | | | Guys, it is very hot in Switzerland so please drink water often.
If you feel thirsty, it is already to late. Make sure you drink at least 2 liters per day and if you sweat, you can go easily to 4 liters.
Enjoy Summer!

| | Re: Drink water! | Quote: | | | | | Well snopes has this - http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp
The original 1.5 litres does come from US research in the 50s.
If you want evidence of overhydration look at the cases of people who have taken ecstacy - not danced like a banshee, but drunk water (as per the guidelines) and then died due to salt osmosis. Once that begins to happen it is VERY difficult to correct - dehydrating someone while getting back in the salts is challenging.
The thrist mechanism is however very weak - and can be confused with hunger.
The only people who actively campaign for us to drink more water are the mineral water companies. In fact, the push for higher water consumption has not come about due to published scientific reports indicating we HAVE to drink more water - but due to the rising popularity of bottled water.
1.5l of water consumption per day from food and water (original research) - became 1.5l of water from fluids, then 1.5l of only water to now 2-3l of water.
It is a con. | | | | | Honey, you have to drink a hell lot of water to reach this point! No drama in here, just drink water and you'll be fine! Feel in the arguing mood, hein? |

Bloody good job I wasn't following your advice and drinking water or I'd be invoicing you for a new laptop!!
That Spanish climate seems to have changed our lovely Nil into a potty mouth.

A friend of mine prone to jump on whatever trendy health tip they find once did a coffee enema. He was totally wired for like 2 days, no sleeping!

Bear Grylls did this in one of his episodes where he was "stranded at sea", he used the dirty water that had collected in the botom of his boat and put it up his bottom. | Quote: | | | | | Actually, if you are stranded on a boat in the ocean, you can get water from fish eyeballs. It's not as if you can push it up there à la suppository. Is he just really, really flexible?

A bit of tube and a makeshift funnel. Did not look like the most comfortable I have ever seen him. | Quote: | | | | | How, exactly? It's not as if you can push it up there à la suppository. Is he just really, really flexible? | | | | | |

Every caulkhead (Isle of Wighter) has to know how to create a makeshift tube to stick dirty water up their bottoms in case of being stranded at sea.
