Happy 4'th of July :)

Just wanted to extend a Happy 4'th to my fellow Americans This is my first year here, and I'll admit it's a little hard being away from all the fun and festivities I'm used to. I think what I miss the most is the parades, followed by a cook-out at whoever is hosting that year! Oh, and the fireworks! Did anyone do their own celebrations this past weekend? My (Swiss) husband and I hosted a little get together at Vidy yesterday, also to celebrate my B-day which is Friday. Tonight we'll do a traditional cook out style meal and light sparklers on the balcony.

What do you miss the most about being in the States this time of year?

Any non US folks have inquiries about 4'th of July traditions? (Just trying to include everyone

-B

cook out style meal?... you're not planning to BBQ on the balcony are you? The Swiss will have you arrested and thrown in prison for that.

Yeah, I'm aware. But the McSmokersons directly below us can smoke all the cigs and joints they want, as the smoke rises up and flows right into our apartment!

Anyway, we use our plug-in griddle thingie.

That's not why you celebrate the 4th of July! If anything breaking away from the colonial yoke of the British empire should have meant not becoming involved in 'European wars' that's the reason you were 3 years late to the last one.

Lighten up dude, it's a celebration. I don't spend Christmas worrying about Roman Soldiers and a crown of thorns...

Re: Happy 4th of July to all those that celebrate it !

Went to the pool. Got incredibly burnt. Now I must light a sparkler and stand outside in my Garden and watch it sparkle in glory. It's a shame that half the friends I know in the US are complaining about the loud firework noise...I would have welcomed it with both ears...

Happy Independence Day to everyone who celebrates it. May you try to do whatever makes you smile.
