I dunno if anyone posted this and how effective it would be, but it's better if you disconnect electric equipment if the thunder is low and you have no thunder / lighting protection around.

Re: Violent, fatal Summer storms over Central Switzerland

Judging by the link Sky provided it's coming from the west and heading east. This is literally the calm before the storm..and looking at the map, there is a whole barrage of more nasty stuff on the way.

Based on this satellite image taken 1 hour ago, the "Severe (Pink/Purple)" level is still to come, crossing over CH from west to east.

Re: Violent, fatal Summer storms over Central Switzerland

Believe it or not, although I'm just a few miles from DB'd place, all we got was some gusty wind and a slight drizzle. That's what hailstorms often do. I once saw a farm over in the Rhine Valley where the corn behind the farm house got totally flattened while the wheat in front of the house went unscathed, actullay not even wet.

That thing is late. I have a massive cell here with loads of hail and loud thunder directly above me, but Zurich lake is still green on the map.

Just had a call from a friend who works at Roche Rotkreuz who told me of losing her two colleagues, just as they were arriving for their summer party on the Zug lakeshore this afternoon.

Again, we never know the minute.
This is terrible so sorry to hear that
