Patrouille Suisse F-5E flyover Lausanne: Today & Sunday

Anyone in Lausanne who is interested in seeing a precision jet team in action can look upwards this morning (Friday) between 10:00 and 10:30, and again on Sunday between 18:05 and 18:15.

The Patrouille Suisse will be doing an aerobatic demonstration for the opening of Gymnaestrada on Sunday evening, and today is the practice day. They will fly over the Olympic stadium (Stade de la Pontaise) at the top of Lausanne.

Anyway. Thought one or two people might be interested.

I just saw (and heard) them on the way back from the post office - absolutely beautiful!

Thanks for letting us know there will be another flight tomorrow.

Didn't manage to see (or hear) anything at EPFL, I think it's too far out of town.

Hopefully I'll have better luck on Sunday....

Depending on their age and proximity, bear in mind the noise - they are very loud when flying low and giving full throttle for a climb.

A few years back, there was a big airshow at Payerne, with many display teams (including Red Arrows) taking part, and for my then small daughter the noise was unbearable, and spoilt her enjoyment a bit.

But I guess if you're not directly on the airfield, then it might not be so bad.

Re: Patrouille Suisse F-5E flyover Lausanne: Today & Sunday

amen, sometimes the noise can be very strong- last year when working in montreux, the planes flew so close to my school i felt like i could touch them! so much for trying to get my kids to concentrate that day!

we are down near ouchy and heard them for a few minutes (5 to 10) but saw nothing (no lake view- i'm sure with a view of the lake that you could have seen them) no worries. we'll take a walk on sunday and watch them by the lake, it is pretty cool to see them.

Sorry, I should have been more clear about the location. Gymnaestrada is taking place at the Stade Olympique, and that's the location of the flyover, not the lake. I've updated the original post to reflect this.

Also, anyone interested in planes should definitely check out the Breitling Sion Air Show Sept. 16-18. Switzerland an amazing location for airshows, as the Alps make for a stunning backdrop.

Oh my god that was awesome. I live about 600m away from the stadium next to the parc Sauvabelin, and they were flying right over our house about 300m up. I was laughing the whole time, it was so amazing.

In my next life I want to be a fighter pilot.

If you pay your taxes, you also have a right to hear the "Sound of Freedom" passing overhead.

The Patrouille Suisse rock, and their demos are to be savored.
