I shred anything that has my name or address on it, I then put the shredded paper in a paper Migro's bag and send it for re-cycling. Everything else (cardboard and paper) goes in to a second bag and gets sent off. just How am I supposed to recycle the shredded paper unless I put it in something?

This sounds like the biggest load of horse crap I have ever heard in my life. I know that's what the rule says but this just sounds like a secret problem to justify their ridiculous rule. How am I supposed to recycle the paper bags once they have started to rip? I bet that I would get a fine for not recycling if I just dumped one in the normal trash.

This is a long thread ...... but I stopped at this one, `cause I have to say, having experienced these problems, that the answers are quite simple really .....

Paper is paper .... and shredded paper inside a "paper" bag (the "paper" bag is not really paper, it`s classed as cardboard) ... so you empty the bag out into the big paper bin, and then throw the bag into the cardboard bin.

Ditto the torn old bag - it`s "cardboard"!

And that is the reason why paper put into a bag is not collected - `cause it`s in a "cardboard" bag!

I re-cycle the old plastic supermarket bags into "string" to tie the bundles - you just slice round and round the bag and you get a looooong "thread of free string" ...... hey presto - two recycled for the price of one!

Apparently not. If you'd have read on you would have discovered (as I did) that shredded paper is more difficult to recycle as the fibers have been cut. Some countries allow you to recycle shredded paper with cardboard but according to some this is not allowed.

However, putting shredded paper in a supermarket paper bag seems to make more sense to me as it can all go to making new cardboard.

Re: A Swiss thing or just odd behaviour?

I have gotten into the habit of collecting all my crud in a ALDI plastic bag, when itīs full sling it on in the moībikes topcase and dump it at one of the truckstops over the border in Germany.
Great smuggle meat into the country and the trash out.
