Like exposed cleavage, and tight jeans, tatoos , if tasteful and suitably placed, draw attention to the fairest assets.
I suspect most these days though are henna. Just like earrings and high heels, they can be removed after the trap has sprung | The following 2 users would like to thank Upthehatters2008 for this useful post:

I'm not a fan of tattoos on women. On men they can be rawrrr. And let me just state that for the love of all that is holy, be sure you want that tattoo before you get it.
Removal is excruciating. I had a wee tattoo on my inner ankle. After my first laser treatment to remove it, this hideous, evil (trust me it was) blood blister appeared. It was a good inch in height and had these misshapen edges such that it resembled a beastly malignant tumor. I had to continually drain it and initially regretted the treatment. Fortunately, it healed and subsequent treatments just left redness.

Have you ever worn a bikini, worn high heels and shown plenty of leg? I'm guessing some of your ancestors probably felt that 'sent the wrong sort of message' as well. Do you feel ready to go back to corsets, bloomers, and hoop skirts?

Actually, body paint is great, no need for tattoos OR clothes!

I think the most bizarre thing I have seen here is a mother and (adult age) daughter who both had tattoos of their respective pet dogs on their upper arm...well, they do say a dog is for life...
I see no problem with tattoos on either men or women but like all art: what you are trying to express and how others interpret it can be two different things..especially moving through the generations.

I did wear heels and such, back when I had a figure to show off...but that's not what I'm curious about - the abundance of tats, some tasteful, some not, in a culture that is not exactly known for women burning their bras for the cause has me rather curious. Like I say, a lot of it comes down to socioeconomic status, but even someone like myself in my salad days dreamed of getting a tattoo of the BSD Daemon somewhere that only I, and my intimates, would ever see...but having tats that you know will be seen even clothed, that's a statement.
I'm not judging, just very curious since it is inconsistent with what I see and hear wrt to Swiss women.

I don't think it's that strange any more. IIRC, among young people (something like 20-30 year-olds) it's around 40%, of which more than half have several. I don't see much of a difference between CH and USA in terms of prevalence, though I think that more people here have really good tattoos, since they can afford them.

mhm, close to stampfenbachplatz is an advert. might be gaultier or armani. its a lad posing for a perfume, looking like vincent gallo with more muscles...and is tattooed all over... a high percentage here is doing it for "fashion" reason.
btw i saw one girl, badi enge staff...and half of her back and arm was covered in one of those jap style tats. looked great! nice n fresh colors, much details...sexy. for now |

Tats can be pretty if they're brand new. Since they really don't age well, and people change their mind, a temporary henna tat is probably better.
But they really do look unattractive on older people.

I'm not a fan of tattoos but my dad, for all his conservativeness, surprised the life out of me once by saying "I quite like those little roses that girls get done on their shoulders." Almost dropped my tea.

I think tattoos and piercings are cool, depending on your profession one is sometimes limited to what you can put where. Nothing better than a discreet tattoo and a well placed piercing | The following 3 users would like to thank Mary-Anna for this useful post:

WTF! Are you calling me white trash? | Quote: | | | | | After an afternoon at the local badi and a couple glasses of wine, I have a question; why do so many (presumeably - though I did suss out that most were Swiss) Swiss women have tattoos, usually multiples thereof? Where I come from tats are for biker chicks, rebellious teens who later have them removed, ore white trash like the octomom. It's a genuine curiosity as guys have always had much more latitude with tats and given that CH was so late on the vote, it seems inconsistent that such a cliche for rebellion or prostitution would be so popular. Mind, I hang at the kiddie pool, fully clothed. | | | | | | The following 2 users would like to thank i-b-deborah for this useful post:

I just want to know where everyone is getting their tattoos at.
