It says 1 year - it means 1 year - Guarantee fun and games

Over the last 6 weeks the blender we bought last year has started to leak. We finally dug out the receipt to find the date of 18th June 2010 on it - with a 1 year guarantee - you can see where this is going already can't you.

So, armed with the faulty (or is the Fawlty) blender I headed down to FUST in Jemoli to attempt to get it replaced. Armed with my array of at least 10 German words this was going to be interesting.

"I bought this last year - and about 6 weeks ago it started leaking"
"Do you have the receipt?"
"Yes"
"Hmm - the guarantee has finished"
"I know that but it is only 3 weeks out of the guarantee"
"3 weeks, 1 day, 1 hour - it doesn't make any difference"
"This is a FUST product"
"It only cost 70chf - if you had bought a quality product from Miele or Bosch then it would be worth repairing"
"Are you saying that FUST products will only last the length of the guarantee?"
"I didn't say that"
"But that is what you are saying if you don't think a blender should last more than a year and be only used 30 times"
"What can I do? The warranty is ended"
"You could replace it."
"But the warranty is over"

The manager walks over and talks to him in Italian - I can only presume the manager said

"Stop being a twat and replace the blender"

Next thing I know he has gone off to the shelf to get a jug and replaced it - and I was off with my blender with a new (unbroken) jug.

What has happened to the Swiss customer service we know and love??

Why are you complaining?..LOL You received a replacement. You're warranty was over so they were well within their right not to replace it. Be happy!

Good point. You should storm back in there, throw the working blender on the counter and demand they return your faulty one "as you would have done in the olden days".

Adrian/Tilia - at least some veterans understand what I mean by Swiss customer service.

It was only a 70chf blender as well

is that pronounced "Fussed"? If so, it would have been my first clue.

ROFL

Look on the bright side. At least you don't have to worry about where to recycle the broken blender. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the coffee maker I blew up.

I bought a plastic watch from Migros 2 weeks ago, the case split where it joins the strap. I went in & they said the guarantee did not cover a brocken watch!. I made a fuss & he said it would be sent away for evaluation, I asked for the manager, he said the manager was away. He then said OK I will give you a new watch!

What has happened to the Swiss customer service we know and love??
Very much alive and well. This just happened two days ago:

Me: Hello, I would like to make an appointment to tune my piano please. This by the way is a free tuning as agreed initially in my sales contract.

Lady: one moment please. *ruffles papers* Well, I am sorry Frau X, it says that the free tuning is only applicable within 6 months of your purchase. You've purchased the piano in December and its now July. 2 weeks into July to be exact.

Me: (shit shit shit!!! - keep calm, keep calm) But, my piano WASNT out of tune in the first 6 months. It only started getting out of tune today - why should I tune the piano when its not out of tune? Doesnt make sense, dont you think?

Lady: (pause) You are right. Ok, the free tuning still applies!

I know its probably comparing apples and oranges, but she could have been arsey, stuck to her guns with the contract and made me shell out over 200chuffs for the tuning and didnt.

Flexibility and common sense does exist.

Very simple, just bring it in any store that sell electronic goods with a power cord. Recycled once a vacuum cleaner in a computer store. They did not ask, they did not blink, they just took it and said thank you. It's the law (not the thank you part).

Re: It says 1 year - it means 1 year - Guarantee fun and games

Took my car for the dreaded Vorfuhrüng last week.
They pointed out I had had my car windscreen repaired & the repair was not legal; it was in the part of the screen that the driver looks through.

OK it was repaired in 2006 so not one year; but the guarantee says life long.

So then I called the screen repairers; they said the guarantee is life long but only for the list of possible problems listed.

guess what? Failing Vorfuhrüng is not one of the things that is listed so this is not guaranteed!

I don't get it. How would you like her to compensate you?

Should she apologize for the nurse you directed to send them to you?

Fact is. They didn't show, you called and complained and she agreed to send them asap.

Hmm...hmm....no I still don't see it.....
