Living and working in different cantons

Hello there has probably already been a thread like this however tax just confuses me.

My partner lives in Feurthalen, I work and have a flat in Geneva

Based on the tax calculator tax is quite higher in Genf than Feurthalen.

This B-Permit still taking much too long.

Am I allowed to register to the authorities as living in Fthln and working here.

Just thinking about it I am there almost every weekend. Its a lot of travel.

Re: Living and working in different cantons

Where do you actually live- eg where do you rent an apartment or house?

I rent an appartment in Geneva but that can be changed and my partners name is on the lease.. no B-Permit.

Its pretty detailed enquiry and I am having some kind of expert to look at it however I'm curious if any EF'ers would have an insights on this particular layer of beurocracy.

Re: Living and working in different cantons

You can register as having both addresses, i done it before.

You register with both cantons and tell them you live through the week in geneva as you work there but your main address is in the other.

Cant remember what its called (something along the lines of dual aufenhalt) but i you will be able to pay the lower tax rate.

My example;

Worked in Aarau, registered my main address as Aarau, second address as basel.

I told them that i only live in basel twice per week when i am not working, they did not accept that. Told me basel was my main address otherwise, why would i live there. Aargau argued my case with Basel Stadt, but lost. I had to pay around 1000.- extra to Basel as the tax that was deducted from my wage for Aargau (B-Permit Quellensteuer) was considerably lower than it would have been in basel.

Your story sounds more like it will go your way, be sure to let us know if it doesnt

It's called Wochenaufenthalt. I've had a few colleagues who've done this.

I have a vague recollection that B permits are now issued centrally rather than by kanton, so cancelling a pending application would not speed things up.

Anyone else care to confirm/contradict this

If the procedure is the same as for a C permit, then it is still issued by the canton.
