| | Organization that works against the sale of horses as meat?
Somewhere we ran across an organization that was handing out leaflets discouraging the sale of horse meat and the slaughter of horses for meat in Switzerland. Can anyone help me find it again? Thanks.

Awwww!I like horse steaks on the BBQ and Rossgeschnetzeltes mit Rösti or fillet of filly fried in suet.
Steak and kidney pudding with horsemeat is great too.

Mmmm, horse! Think I'll grill some for supper (thought it's good raw, too!)
Hell, even my kids love it, even more than beef!

Agreed, not as bland as standard issue beef, leans towards a cross between beef and venison, also it dosn´t dry out as much.
Not too sure about Canadian meat, but most larger villages have a Rossmetzg.

There are a few websites that are mainly focused abroad (i.e Spain). Maybe you should head back to the area where they were handing out the leaflet to see, whether they're still around.

As someone who was brought up around horses all her life, it breaks my heart to see people eating them...then again I should consider myself a hyppocrit as I do eat other meat (beef, poultry, pork, duck). I cried though when I bought a horse steak by mistake

The outlaws were visiting once and we were having dinner (guess what we were eating?), my MiL mentioned that she had never eaten horse before. I glanced at my wife, who shook her head imperceptibly.
FiL blurted it out though.
She seemed to like it though.
Eating horse is no different from beef, pork, lamb etc.

I discovered recently that I live near a "Pferdemetzgerei" (horse butcher) and was appauled. I'd always heard that horses were sold as meat in Europe, but I never really believed it. I've also seen rabbits available in Coop, but that didn't bother me near as much as seeing the horse butchery. It's one more thing that could make me a vegetarian.
Horses aren't for eating. The idea is as disgusting as eating dog or cat. That's just how I feel about it.

I have some friends in Soave who asked me if it was true that people in Switzerland eat horse.
They were shocked to find out it was true, and I was shocked that they were shocked, particularly as they thought it was fine to eat donkey meat!

I'm sorry but eating horse meat is a tradition is Switzerland, a delicious tradition i might add. Particularly in the valleys of the Jura mountains. There is nothing wrong against eating horse it is an animal just like cows.
The same goes for dogs and cats although I was not aware it was legal here, in China where I live it is a delicious delicacy. If you don't like it don't eat but please let the rest of us.
