Re: The Big Mac Index...

It' more to do with the US dollar weakness than the price of a Big Mac - even more so as the Swiss franc has strengthed in recent months as a 'safe haven' what ever that means

No surpises here...
Oz is 20% more expensive than Switzerland for everything at the moment. I think that the fact Australia isnt crimson is amazing.... I understand that there are flaws in the Big Mac index but this seems extreme. Last time i was in Perth a kilo of grapes cost me AUD$22! Tim Tams are more expensive than Oreos in Zurich. Perhaps Big Macs are the only cheap thing in Oz for the moment?

Re: The Big Mac Index...

Seems to contain some Mistakes or inaccuracies.

Brazil is ca. 50% over US, not 149% as the illustration suggests.

I would like to see what the CZ price is. When I was there in 91 or 92, a Bigmac cost more like CHF 1.2-1.5

Doc.

If the price was the same, it would be 100% - so 149% is 50% more

Wow, I never noticed the lack of McDonald's in Africa before.

If the price was the same, it would be 100% - so 149% is 50% more
But Canada is 24% more and it isn't shown as 124%.
