I got this in the post the other day. I guess they didn't check that the mailbox had a Muslim name on it

Well if I'm going to receive one, then I'd like to receive them all.
Seriously, now that they (SVP) have made the step to call our attention to their point of view, it would be good if the other political parties did the same so that we could make a real assessment based on all political opinions.
I do hope that they will.
(I'd like to read what the Green, Socialist and liberal parties have to say)

That is like saying that everyone who has something to say is worth listening to - which is patently not the case. SVP spout a load of old crap, and you don't need to read their leaflet to know that. Some points of view are not worth your consideration.

Yes I received that delightful piece of literature today too. I shall be using it to line my cat's litter tray. Maybe after it has fulfilled this purpose I shall send it back to the SVP headquarters as the OP suggested.

Re: Political flyers - how can I send them back?

I'll vote center or slightly left and green as I always have as those parties represent my personal beliefs.
Nevertheless there will be points that will appeal to the public in the SVP's opinion so that is why I find it rather crucial that all points of view, of all parties, are represented.

People react with their emotions, and will vote with their emotions.
There needs to be a balance.

Re: Political flyers - how can I send them back?

I thought that there was some rule that the political propaganda garbage doesn't class as Werbung / advertising and as such isn't affected by the "Keine Werbung" notices - correct?

Anyway, my solution would be to drop it into the nearest litter bin (although I did like the suggestion of using as cat litter tray liner and then returning it to SVP)

Re: Political flyers - how can I send them back?

I like getting political pamphlets in my mail box.

I never read them, but I like being reminded that I live in a country where opposing points of view are allowed an airing.

Agreed, as long as they are factual and don't peddle hatred- I am interested in all points of view.

Re: Political flyers - how can I send them back?

Thank you for all the helpful hints. I have decided to send it back to SVP, lets see what happens. I shall also put an additional sticker on my post box, along the lines of no political advertising/flyers etc. The reason it irks me really is the way it is written - there is freedom of speech and there is the propagation of hatred and fear. One could argue that falls under freedom of speech, but I should also have the freedom not to hear it or read it. SVP blathers on at length about giving people their rights, so I would like to take mine to not receive their rubbish. Unfortunately, as I found out today at 1st of August festivities in my village this is the breeding ground of the SVP - they sponsored the whole village party today. So I guess I should no longer be surprised at the amount of nonsense I receive from the SVP!

Re: Political flyers - how can I send them back?

we have also sent it back. my boyfriend also sent a very "eloquant" e-mail, only to find this answer in his mailbox today

basically it says that this is not an ad and that the post is obliged to deliver it. note that nowhere in our e-mail did we mention the word "ad". we rather stated that we are not interested in non true propaganda statements and that in this household we do not share these views. of course that subject they will not touch.

they also attached a pdf from a screenshot from the post website with the relevant bit, pointing it out with a red arrow. in case, you know, you were too stupid to find it yourself.
