Wednesdays: Am I missing something?

In the process of relocating I have spent several (maybe more than 15) times at Ikea and it seems that it is always super busy on Wednesdays. Even here in my small building, every space is filled with a car on Wednesdays, but other days on a car or two. Seems like everything is more busy on Wednesday. Do people tend to have short days or days off on Wednesday or is it just a coincidence.

Wednesdays the kids only have school in the mornings...
Maybe because of that???
But it's school holidays at the moment, so... don't have a clue...

This is the reason around here, although in GVA, the kids are off the whole day Wednesday; the cafeteria is packed on Wednesdays as it is a cheap outing for the kids.

Most larger IKEA's have a playground where you can leave the kids while you shop. Plus they have the little cafe's. So it wouldn't surprise me if it was little school kids and mums. I found IKEA were always much busier on wet days.

They should have a playground where you can leave men too, you know a place with free beer and Swedish strippers and things. We men would be much more enthusiastic about going to IKEA.

Sounds good, but I'm not sure the ladies would go for it. I think they take some kind of twisted pleasure in having a trailing spouse losing the will to live shuffling behind them.

Our Ikea just got rid of the decent half liter Swedish beers in the cafeteria and replaced them with

f*@king .33l Feldschlossen . I counted on that Swedish beer .

Re: Wednesdays: Am I missing something?

I've been to Ikea several times since I got here, and I never bought anything. I spend hours walking around and looking, but then I'm always intimidated by the ordeal of actually trying to get something off of a shelf that's too big and bulky, and/or heavy, which makes me scared I might break something (me or the furniture).

I think I'll stick with point, pay, and convenient delivery between the hours of 14-1800.

Some years ago I discovered that I was allergic to the glue IKEA uses, but only in the concentrations that occur in the shop (so stuff at home is okay). You can't imagine how relieved I was to discover that.

Re: Wednesdays: Am I missing something?

I can attest to the use of the Smalland at IKEA. We used it a few times for our daughter while we shopped, but we never got anything done because we usually just sat and enjoyed the peace of eating with a 3 year old around. Makes sense why it would be busy if the Swiss schools are off or out early on Wednesdays.
