Re: What's wrong with radio these days?

Oh I got so much to say about this ..
and i probly going to get in trouble (kind of) but I don't care because this is my passion.
As many know I work in the music industry .. mostly these days in Switzerland.
Yes theres a Music tribe here and it wears HUGE BLINKERS....

In an analogy "It needs to get a little drunk, smoke a joint or 2 and get laid"

This one thing that drives me mad here, the radio air play and the general attitude of the Swiss music industry towards it's own home grown talent.

As for Radio Colleur3 or ORF's FM4 .. but Switzerland is pants.
The rest of Europe is mostly tied by endless royalty payments and the big brother of the industry Universal, that's why all your going to hear is 80's and 90's back catalog untill all the bonkers advances from the old days are paid off.

As for Switzerland.
I (we) a small music collective have taken 4 swiss bands to the UK touring and ending up playing at Brighton's great escape festival.
In fact it's been such a success that in 2013 we are hosting two night's.

Sound's good but the Swiss music press and some big name swiss promoters ( who I won't mention) were also there.
I know because I met them later in the year, they actually accused me of making it up when I told them about us at the same festival.
They had no idea .. none & to make it worse they kinda laughed it off as " who on earth would go anyway"

We also met one of the chief's of the swiss music export on the plane going over, he was open mouthed to see 12 swiss musicians & promptly added out tour to his web site news that week.

BUT DO GET MY POINT?
It's all tied up.
Sadly the Radio, the TV and the music industry here are NOT open to anything daring new or slightly left field.

Which is a real pity.

Anyhow I'm now taken 50% of my working time to concentrate on promoting the same said Tour and bands for 2013.

Simon

Swiss Bands:

Hulk City
Shelta Flares
Jah
The Drops
The Rude Company
Cruel Noise

Re: What's wrong with radio these days?

I actually enjoyed hearing John Miles (Music) a couple of times last week ..... brought back memories of the old teenage discos in a remote village hall, in the sticks; getting pissed on cider and getting a snog and a grope from a girl I never knew I even fancied.
