Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to get a child haircut other than the 'sim sala bim' salon inside the toy store downtown? Maybe down in the Thalwil neck of the woods? My daughter desperately needs a cut, but the thought of going all the way downtown for a cut isn't that exciting for me, but I'll do it if there aren't any other places that might work down here in the boonies of the lakeside suburbs.

There's a place in Adliswil that does kids' hair as well as adults - no appointments, just walk in. They seem to do a good job, and are very tolerant - when our youngest wasted about fifteen minutes of a hairdresser's by wriggling in the special kids' seat, then refusing to get it cut at all, they just shrugged and said "Maybe next time." - no charge.

It's in the same building as the Migros near Adliswil train station, can't recall the name. May be almost as much of a trip as heading downtown, though ...

Other than that there is a Kindercoiffeur (children's hairdresser) close to "Central" in Zurich, vis a vis the Haldenegg stop. They have been around forever but I have not used them so I can't say if they're any good. More information here http://www.bambini-coiffeur.ch/kontakt.html

I usually take my daughter with me, and ask the apprentice to cut her hair, she has more hair than i do , but they charge me Sfr 30, wash, cut, dry for my 6year old, and cut the 3year old's fringe for free

The Barber shop at the end of the Gotthardstr. in Thalwil (direction Horgen) also does children's hair. My kids love his little dog and he has plenty of toys to play with.

But my wife prefers to take the kids to the place opposite of Starbucks in Thalwil. I think it is called Ryf.
