Can you wash your car in your driveway?

Hello All,

I've heard a rumour but not sure if it is true? Are you allowed to wash your car in your driveway at home? Or is that not allowed by Swiss law? Or is it a Kanton regulation?

We have a couple beloved antique vehicles and they need tender loving care.

Thanks!

Probably OK on your own land. There might be local anti-pollution laws, you might need to contact your local government office, or water company to be sure.

I think you cannot. I had a discussion with my rental agency lady about this. she said that u need to have the drainage that separates oil and water to wash the car.If you dont have that, u cannot wash the car..

I wash our cars on our driveway - and mostly on Sundays. Never had any issues.

It would be difficult to do that even if you have the drainage facilities - doesn't the soap you wash the car with break it all down and mix everything up so it can't be separated?

Its a pollution issue, not a Sunday issue. The drains on the streets are designed to carry rain water, not soapy water - so its not about getting away with it, it could be seen by some as the same as throwing a PET bottle into a hedge when there is nobody about
