I'd ask them if they could arrange it for you but the've stopped for lunch

Never had a problem myself with the number 1 from Marin.
I get the number 1 into work as well and in the morning now that the kids are back to school it's unbearable

It is very hot in Neuch today though. I checked the weather in Glasgow...it's 15 degrees

Having a bit of a WTF moment here.
Ah ha haa!!!
Haven't seen those around for a while and yes they really do make an awful lot of noise.

Par contre, I've seen dozens of the smaller white ones buzzing around quite a bit these days.
Of course they drive you totally nuts as they only drive like 5 1/2km/h and you have to drive in "Schneckentempo" until you can finally overtake them.
In fact they're rather noisy too and at least the road is clean even if it has many holes and bumps in it.

One of those moments of exercising patience.

You're not integrating very well. If you were really becoming Swiss you would have been sitting right beside the window keeping on eye on EVERYTHING the entire time. Since you waited until you became curious about the noise, then I'll assume you're a Miami Cuban.

No this was much much bigger than those ones. If they start up
again after lunch I'll take a photo for you. There were 2 guys holding this huge tube attached to a huge generator thing which was being pulled along by a big truck. Never seen anything like it before anywhere.
It was incredibly loud too. I suppose we should be thankful they didn't start at 6 this morning.

That's very true. My boy has to get the 6.50 bus now he's in secondary as he starts at 7.30.
I think the must turn the airco off at the stop before yours

Think I'd rather be in Glasgow TBH. Aren't you off on your hols soon anyway?

They've probably deployed them out here in the sticks now that they've got nice new ones in Neuchatel

I'm going out this afternoon in case they start it up again.

Yeah I think I'll have to work on it. Maybe I'll find classes at the MigrosSchule. There were certainly a few by the time I looked out.

It's been a bit noisy outside for a while so I decided to have a look out of the window. There are 2 men in high visibility actually hoovering the street.
They have this big industrial vac thingy attached to a big trailor with power supply (léike the ones used for pneumatic drills) and they are cleaning it inch by inch. They've just gone round the corner into the next street now thank goodness as it's pretty damned noisy.

No wonder the taxes are so high in Neuchatel.
So whats the problem!

Re: Guys hoovering the street!

They do it seemingly nightly here.

I was most amused the first time I saw a slight soapy trail behind them....I asked a Swiss person: "Do they clean the streets with soap every night???".

The response was a demeaning: "Well how else would you clean the streets"......as if I was the crazy one.

Re: Guys hoovering the street!

My neighbours have a vacuum cleaner just for their patio area and their decking area in the garden. They love grilling and at the moment grill just about every evening, and after the grilling has finished, they tidy up, vacuum and then ... for good measure ... give everything a good hose down too.

I'm not against cleanliness per se, but really ...

I asked once, and the (very nice) mom said they were thrilled because they had found a Dyson on really good offer at Conforama and bought it just for use on the patio - so that it wouldn't dirty the inside.

Looking at her general cleaning regime, I feel a failure just about every day.

Maybe she comes originally from Neuchatel? I didn't think so but I might just ask ....

Re: Guys hoovering the street!

OP, has anyone in the neighbourhood reported missing little doggies and pet rodents, perchance?

No, but funnily enough we have 2 rabbits running around our garden. They are not wild ones but nobody in the neighbourhood knows where they came from. Perhaps they were regurgitated from this giant machine.

Our village streets are all still very clean though. They came back in the afternoon and washed them all really carefully.
It must be the annual clean or something but they were extremely thorough and the machines were exceptoinally noisy. The neighbours had never seen anything like it before either.

I think cleaning the streets and pavements here is great. Keeps Switzerland looking like a picture book. I remember as a child playing with lego blocks, cities and roads knowing that in reality things do not look like that - until I moved to Switzerland...and realised that some places do.
