Will be funny, tell someone in the US you got a $200000 salary (taxed at a very low rate) and you're clipping coupons from the supermarket
they got coupons here. i have not seen any offered.

You will be perfectly fine. This question is sort of a running joke on EF. That's the reason for some answers on your thread.

Höngg is by the way better than Oerlikon. It's nicer for families. I would go for Höngg - if you can find something, that is.

I grew up in Zurich and Oerlikon was never considered a place for families.
Sounds a bit arrogant, but that how it is. It's ok when you're single, but with a family one has to think a bit further.

Good luck with your move and new job.
Well I live in Hoengg with a view overlooking the city. Its a nice area and close to the forest-little more expensive but on your salary you will find a nice place for 3000CHF a month

I have a job offer of 155.000 CHF gross per year from a well-known multinational company plus 7.5% of the annual salary as a bonus. I am a senior engineering manager. I wonder if this annual salary is enough for me and my family (a wife and 2 kids 6 and 4 years old) to live in Zurich. Can I afford rent and children kindergarten? They also offer me a relocation package but I do not have any details yet.. what should I expect??? Thanks in advance for those who will answer.!!
I live here with my wife and 2 kids. I will cut to the chase. Yes, you can but forget private school, your kids would have to go to the normal Swiss public schools. Expect a comfortable, but not very extravagant lifestyle. Eat out maybe once a week (Pizza, not sushi). Ikea furniture. One car. Keep international travel to a minimum (once every other year to visit the G-parents). You can go to the next level once you hit about 180K, but that usually happens when your wife starts working, which doesn't seem to be in the cards for several years (if at all). The amount you decide to pay in rent will be the deal breaker. If you pay 3K per month, it will be tight. Aim for 2500 max per month, 2000 is better.
