| | I have a job offer of 155.000 CHF per year. Can I live with that money in Zurich?
I have a job offer of 155.000 CHF gross per year from a well-known multinational company plus 7.5% of the annual salary as a bonus. I am a senior engineering manager. I wonder if this annual salary is enough for me and my family (a wife and 2 kids 6 and 4 years old) to live in Zurich. Can I afford rent and children kindergarten? They also offer me a relocation package but I do not have any details yet.. what should I expect??? Thanks in advance for those who will answer.!! | The following 3 users would like to thank thanos073 for this useful post:

I suppose if you manage to only eat lentils on workdays and get around on a secondhand bicycle then you might just scrape by on 155.000.-

If you are willing to share your apartment with three other families (one room each), then yes! otherwise, No!

Rent for a house or a small apartment? You could find an apartment as cheap as 2500 or a house that costs 15K/month. Less if you know how to live cheap, more if you need guest bedrooms and pool.
Even if your kids go to private school (figure 40-50K for the pair, who's counting 10K one way or the other?) and you take that right off the top you'll still be making about double the average wage here.
I'd go clothes shopping. | The following 3 users would like to thank Mud for this useful post:

a single can barely live here on 120K per year
so you'd have 35K/year for the kidergarten

Thanks for the answers guys. The issue is crucial though!
At the moment I live in Italy and things are pretty rough here!!!
So I am thinking about moving in Zurich.
I will rent a flat in Oerlikon or Hoengg. Lifestyle normal, kids at public school...

You'll be fine, worry more about how your wife and kids will adapt.
Especially your wife.

155k is plenty, over double the average wage, you'll live well, assuming you don't have expensive habbits
ps I work in oerlikon, the new bit it ok, bit its really not somewhere I'd want to bring kids up in

Especially your wife. | | | | | Thanks!. My kids are young. I have talked to specialists and they assured me that they can learn the language fast! MY wife wants also to live Italy immediately. I think that we will be better in Zurich... we will see...
thanks for the answers anyway.

I will have 1 month a flat free from the company, so I will have plenty of time to look for an apartment. which other places do you recommend within the s-bahn net?
