Hi Alex, I would try Christ Jewellers (http://www.christ-swiss.ch/en/service). They have branches throughout CH (also in Basel) and seem to have an extensive repair service. Worth a try - i've used Christ in Zurich and they've been very helpful and efficient (watch battery change and bracelet asjustment). Good luck!

and how are they price-wise? I also need to repair an old watch I've had for ages, but I think it needs somewhat more work.
It depends who your watch is made by and whether is it a "name" or not and whether you want to get an official/approved repair shop to make the repairs. That being the case, just cruise up/down Freiestrasse in town - there's a load of official repairers there.
Just a tip: take good close-up photos of the watch before repair. My mum brought her watch here to be repaired at Bucherer and they scratched the watch surface to "clean it", leaving marks. Needless to say, they claimed that this was "normal" and how the watch was before we brought it in...

I honestly can't remember the price, nor have I still got the receipt (just checked ) I do remember they told me how much it would be before they did the work though, so if it's unreasonable you can decline.
great! thanks for the tips guys mine is really at the bare essentials, meaning I can see the small wheels inside (no glass and no hands) so its good to know where I can shop around for the best repair deal.
