My next dream tool I want is a round saw table. | | | | | My soul sister! hahhaaaa ...... I`ve got to control myself, when I see old wrecked stuff lying around! A pain gun? Oh dear, poor Nil. Do be careful - too much pain will destroy your pleasure! .... or will it?

Hey, I need the help and opinions of you on this one.
I have this antique footstool and I need to refresh it with painting, tainting, changing the leather straps for a proper cushion, or else... I have no idea.
Any ideas on what I should do?

Love that foot stool Nil - I would just redo it as is, just freshen it up.

What the others say - just "freshen" it up. The leather seat straps are classic too - what about just Dubben-ing them? Like they treat horse bridles. Such thick leather straps are hard to come by these days, or very expensive, as they`re limited to the part of the animal`s hide near the spine. You could make a nice cushion to go on them, but keep them for the base.
I wouldn`t varnish it. Just clean by scrubbing with soap and a hard brush. Then rub in wood oil.
It looks like something "medieval" - out of a castle.
