Oh, that's such great news! That's really good. Right when I found a Gudrun Jonston's hat pattern I will need you to decode for me...yay! It will be good to see you around again. He can stay and paint if he is inclined? We draw and paint, too.

Doubtful.... he's one of the most un-artistically inclined people I know!

If you're really stuck with that pattern and want to start it soon then pm me a link (telling which bit you're puzzled about) and I'll read it through and try to explain what's what.
Otherwise I'll be back in the fold by the end of May.

You are the best! I only have a pic, maybe we can figure out something similar? Her hats are so chic.

Re: What do you make? Show us your stuff...

Right, after a bit of a cruise around on Ravelry I think that if you use this free pattern (but instead of using two strands of the recommended yarn you could simply try using ordinary DK and check your gauge, possibly going down a needle size or two as reviewers say it come out big);

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...ded-slouch-hat

and work this 6 row, 7 stitch repeat ;

http://www.knittingfool.com/StitchIn...x?StitchID=807

where the original pattern says to do bands of seed stitch, you’ll get a hat near enough to what the other photo shows.
The lace pattern (cat’s paw) can be made an 8-stitch repeat if necessary by adding an additional stitch at the end of each repeat.

The Gudrun Johnston hat seems to have seven rows of st.st. between each band of lace, and there are four bands. But a lot of knitters seemed to only do three. Depends on how ‘slouchy’ you want it to be!

I think you need to sign up to the Lion Brand yarn website to download the pattern though, if you don’t want to do that let me know and I’ll have another hunt for one that I can adapt.

Re: What do you make? Show us your stuff...

A bit different from my usual mountain stuff... someone at work asked me to do this view of the Norfolk Broads. I'm very happy with the background, but the foreground bit of the water isn't quite right.

We got messy this Sunday and there will be more, Yay. Enrolled in the whole module. I missed playing with dirt, mud and enamel.

Here is my most recent painting, that I did last week. The background was a youtube tutorial, which I added the shipwreck to. I have to say, I do many tutorials on youtube in an effort to improve my painting skills, and the people that post them with their joy and enthusiasm are absolutely second to none.
