Thanks so much. It's a bit nerve-wracking showing them to the outside world so it's great to get nice feedback. Have been admiring your crochet too!

I love them too! I've been toying with the idea of opening a little store selling hand made goodies. I think I could source all the merchandise through EF!

What a great thought! There's definitely a wide range of talent here and I love seeing what everyone is making.

I think most people who are serious about selling things for money tend to go down the Etsy route...

I am slowly attempting to turn myself into a writer. I have two books, well into plot development but I must sit myself down and punch the letters out onto the documents. One is a fantasy setting, and the other is sci-fi.

Writing is harder than it first appears!

I've been working on using some of my newly available time for writing too. There's definitely an art to it and a lot of hard work!

Re: What do you make? Show us your stuff...

I re-purpose old 70s/80's electronics to new items, such as lamps and clocks, My latest is a new lamp, an LED projector lamp made in the shell of an old Super 8mm camera. A strong weighty device from some very heavy metals (and this was a lightweight camera ;-) in its day....).

Then end result is a simple retro projector lamp.

what-do-you-make-show-us-your-stuff-end.jpg

The first thing was to clean and then remove the mechanical "guts" from the camera, but leaving enough of the switches in place for the outside appearance.

After trying a number of cheap Lamp versions I found that an cheap Ikea JANSJ÷ with the clip base removed provide the best solution and self contained heat-sink.

First prototype using some Velcro to ensure the Lamp and neck would fit inside the space and to ensure the heat was well dispersed - (a fair few people will tell you the LED don't produce heat - Not true - ones that produce useful light do!).

what-do-you-make-show-us-your-stuff-prototype-inside.jpg

Then mounting an electrical switch to replace the mechanical one that was the record stop/start trigger button.

It was not originally designed to stand on the grip and base, some well place Sugru provided some great stability and, well, simple feet.

Then end result is great and works well lighting my sloped white ceiling, reflecting the light back into the room.

(you ca always cut the tag off, not that I would know)

No way! Nothing better than having the name on it to show to everybody who made them! I hold on you for the next winter... Not that we need it often but it did come handy a couple of weeks!!

You are very talented!

The standard of work on these pages is inspiring, only, they make me feel so inadequate.
I have the tendency to start projects with great gusto and snappy ideas, only to let them fizzle out, to be left uncompleted and unloved in a gloomy/cobwebby corner somewhere.

I admire not only the great talents of all here who have posted their work, but specifically their tenacity and discipline, my greatest lack. I can only applaud and endevour to make that final effort of completion, so that one day, I too can post a photo.

You really need to get a project takes less time and start small.

When I was young my neighbor taught me to cross stitch with yarn and jute type fabric. It was so fun so I ran out to the craft store and bought this crazy huge complicated cross stitch project. And found I hated it. It was just way too much. Eventually I got back to cross stitching a few projects, where I would just cross stitch a simple border on a pillow cases or scarves. I'm not a cross stitch diva. But I like it to embellish some simple fabrics and make them look so cute.

I know some people exchange unfinished projects (or UFOs). That might be fun, but I think we are all so far away from each other.
