Wettingen is definitely boring but it works to wind down on Sunday and for working. And it has great outdoors. You can find me on the riverside on Sundays staring at the river for ages  |

Ive lived in several places here in Europe and I would probably be more inclined to tell you to start in France, or even Spain. Spain has a very high quality of living, MUCH better climate, friendlier people (like what youre used to in Haiti), and cheaper everything (you can rent an 8 bedroom 500m from the beach for Euro1,300 per month). Switzerland is a great place. But if you enjoy nice weather, people waiting an extra half second to open the door for you, and a cheap quick meal every now and then, you will resent this place unless you have an income that allows you to live very comfortably. |

Re: why live in switzerland? Reading the forum i have almost the same question - we have decided to move to Switzerland. My husband has got a job and i must say that it is good for him. However i am working and i dont see myself being able to manage the job and the kid and the house with the kind of system that exists. read somewhere that in apartments you get 1/2 day fixed for laundry?? What if it happens to be on weekday? how do you do the laundry and still attend office? and the school timings look crazy to me and the daycares prohibitively expensive not to mention the availability. I dont want to start off on a negative note but am deeply concerned. I have been a tailing spouse all through but wherever we have moved i have had no difficulty in finding & managing a job. Switzerland looks difficult to me though - hope i am wrong! |

Re: why live in switzerland? you'll definetly not like it here. reason : too many greedy foreigners coming here and staying only for the money while enduring a dry and cold society. YMMV |

Re: why live in switzerland? Well, i live in a House with no fixed Laundry dates (even in the evening or on sundays you can do your laundry), can flush my toilet when I want(even at 3 am ), but that doesn't make my live a good one. With the money I get for my job , I can finish private projects, visit concerts(all over europe), have fun there with the fans of the bands I like most , travel the world..... That's important to me, the lifestyle of the rich and famous here in zurich does not count at all for me. I do not own a car, have a small flat, work or travel most of the time, otherwise enjoy my freedom to do "crazy" things for a 43 year old(visit punk or rock concerts , enjoying the first row, build computers, cycle around the lake....) The money I earn here in switzerland is more then 3 times that amount i earned on my last job in germany. " Real" Friends are hard to find(not that kind at the social media), I like people with the same kind of Interests (music, travel, bicycles, concerts). If you don't care , make your step into heavy paid switzerland |
Re: why live in switzerland? i find it odd that there are many expats here in the forum who are staying in switzerland and continue to do so, but they don't seem to like the country... but they stay! very odd thing. maybe i should continue stalking the forum some more! |

Re: why live in switzerland? Quote:
http://www.immigration-massive.ch/ seriously, Switzerland is great and all, have all the great "hard-factors", like clean, tidy, everything works etc...I just love it... ...but it's not so good on the "soft-things"...empathy, understanding, patience , e.g. they take honesty way too far i.e. tell what they think about you in your face etc., not that Switzerland is worse than the average european country, but from a non-european (especially if you're from mid or south-america) you will miss the "warmness" from people... |

Swiss don't like to be criticized, especially not from foreigners...they really don't!... |
