I am from Madrid, Spain and got a serious job proposal from Zurich (130k). Can anybody tell me how many days of paid annual leave can I get from a multinational company in Zurich? Is it the same for all companies? Do I stand a chance to ask for 3 to 4 days more to travel for Christmas in Madrid? (Home leave for expats...).

Depending on your age but probably a minimum of 20 by law. Earning 130K is nearly twice average earnings so I doubt the company will think your owed anything extra.

In CH if holidays such as Christmas fall on a weekend it's tough shit, no extra days are given. In Geneva for example only the 25th December is a holiday with the 26th a normal working day. ZH is different both are holidays.

You should be asking your employer, and it will be included in your employment contract. We can't speak for them.
But does it take 3 to 4 days to travel to Madrid? When I worked there, it was 2 hours.

20-25days which should be plenty to allow you to head home for Christmas.

I would avoid asking for "extra" holidays until you have the job in the bag. It sets the wrong tone at any interview...

Thanks guys. I have been working for the international atomic energy association for 2 years. They gave us 30 days paid leave!!!!! and moreover they gave you the chance to visit your country for cultural reasons giving you also more or less 3 to 4 days (called home leave bonus)...

Yes, congratulations on the job. Leave here is generous and overtime often results in being able to take time in leu instead of being paid for the overtime. I would not personally attempt to negotiate extra leave to travel back home.

Is this in Spain (your actual job) or in Zurich (the new job) this sounds to me like Spain...

i asked, because i went from 30 days holiday down to 20. but they said no.

I am looking information for the job in Zurich. I have been away from Spain for more than 10 years. My previous job was at IAEA where I had 30 days pain annual leave...
