Sounds like you need a trip to Konstanz in Germany, also look at what Aldi and Lidl have on offer in Switzerland, although the German stores are cheaper. Kik in Germany / Austria is also a favourate of ours for kids clothes http://www.kik-textilien.com

Just spent the past 2 years in Germany and didn't really shop at Kik...looked around but never gave in. A few times from Takko or NKD for the kids, but mostly always just went for H&M. And of course would pick up socks, rain jackets and some shoes at Aldi...

It would probably be much cheaper for you to buy a direct ticket to China since mostly all you're going to find in US and probably UK too is "Made In China". At least in Switzerland you can find labels "Made In Switzerland." I couldn't even find a decent 100% cotton bathrobe in USA they are all pretty polyester designs that don't absorb water! Just tacky...LOL
Made in Switzerland does not necessarily mean it is actually made here. I'm not sure where you shop but J Crew, Banana Republic and many other stores have really good quality clothes made of much better fabric than I ever met here. For me nothing beats finds at Loehmans, Tj Maxx etc. I find very limited choice of affordable and better quality clothing shops here. For what you pay here at C&A or H&M ( which I found of very low quality) you could get much nicer things in the US. For example, I got 7 jeans for 29 bucks in Canada this summer. If you can find them here they would be 150-200 chf for the same pair.

Doc Marten boots are 89GBP UK London vs 189CHF Zürich

AYB
I just acquired myself these beauties

and was informed by the very helpful, gay and overall fantastic shop wench in Prague, it depends where they were made. The one with a brit tag are actually an old stock, selling for a lot more since they were still made in the UK. Anything else, made in Thailand. Much cheaper.

Chances are, the more expensive boots are still from the stock made in the UK, usually in regular shops in boonies where die hard doc martens fans haven't discovered them yet. I was lucky. An excellent customer service, I even got a few recipes on cake baking (she was a pastry chef in the old, non doc marten life). Awesome.

It is possible, though, that even cheaper, Thai made docs are still much more expensive here than elsewhere.

Do tell more about this bell thingy! I must have shopped in Jelmoli about a gazillion times & I have neither heard it or heard of it before.
Jelmoli has their big sale at the end of January early Feb. And for a few weeks time they have the flashing lights which go off at which time you have 15 minutes to try on clothing etc and pay to get REALLY great bargans!! Yes...I go every year.

When the flashing lights go off is it only for certain goods or everything in the store?

Good to know, thanks! I'll look out for them. Any tips on bedding? I had lovely satin (cotton) ones from the Migros, but they are now the wrong size. Cant do the polyester/cotton.
sure, try here: http://kingofcotton.co.uk/
I have a lot of stuff from them, for example also 1000tc bedding and some lovely cotton/modal towels, very good quality.
