big accident at sbb ?

Has there just been a really big accident at sbb ? I keep hearing an alarm sounding, that sounds kind of like a doorbell and I see flashing lights at sbb, I see also a lot of work men. Does the alarm mean that there is some toxic stuff being omitted and shall I close the windows?

Sounds just like a regular SBB construction site. The alarm and the flashing lights are supposed to warn the workers when a train is approaching.

Forget about the windows, hide immediately in your local air-raid shelter.

Do not waste time blocking your ears

Re: big accident at sbb ?

Memonge, usually they'll post notices on the buildings for everyone affected (noise, lights, etc) by works being done. They've been doing work near me (near Kannenfeldplatz) for much of the summer and yes, they're noisy, there are a lot of workmen, bright lights and also an "alert" that sounds to let the workers know there is a train coming.

So, if this sounds about right (as opposed to ambulances, firetrucks, police and hazmat crews putting in appearances), it's probably just work being done... and you can look forward to the "joy" of it going on for a few days at least. (For us it's been almost nightly between 2 and 5 am )
