ahemm... are you serious? It's pretty easy!

... well you always have to leave the motorway on the right side (even if it's not apparent on the map..).
Do you?!? Are you sure?

Re: Pick up at the Zurich Airport

Ok you can always get a taxi? I have always been to Zurich airpot by train...look at ARRIVALS information on little screens, they will tell you the terminal where your parents will arrive. Follow signs...done

I guess coming to this forum and asking a question is also considered an effort?

Thanks everyone. I don't really speak german, so was afraid all the signs would be in German. I also have a baby in the car, so coming out wasn't really part of my plan.

Its an international airport. Even the ones in the Middle Eastern/Asian countries will have signs in English, for international travellers.

In future, there is parking outside Arrival 2. However, its only 15 minutes max waiting time. You can use that and wait in the car with the baby, if you know the flight number and arrive approx 30-45 minutes after their flight lands for the baggage and customs clearance etc.

Re: Pick up at the Zurich Airport

It's extremely difficult; you were right to panic and ask how to meet people at Zurich airport.

People have died trying to get out. A Romanian family were recently found living under some chairs, eating scraps of food people dropped, after spending nearly two months trying to find the sign cryptically marked "Way Out / Exit".

Re: Pick up at the Zurich Airport

why not pick them up by train? Otherwise if you want to drive then just pay for the parking and walk over to the terminal. It's really not that big of a deal.

All pax are going to come out of Customs and there's a monitor that says what time the flights are arriving. This being 2011 you can find it online too, either on the airline's website or on the airport's website. Plus there are 3rd party flight trackers.

If you're really this nervous about it, you can always go out to Zurich and scout the place out in advance, too.

Edit: I see now the baby factor. Let your folks know you'll be picking them up curbside so they know to exit the terminal and look for your out there. And as I suggested, make a dry run the day before so you can see where you'll be able to stand for those 15 minutes or so. You may have to circulate a bit too if the flight or your parents are delayed.

Which is pretty scary if all you came to do was sight seeing.

OP : Zurich airport has signs in English AFAIK and all the staff speak perfect English...even if you have a baby in tow, I would still recommend parking and going to arrivals to meet your relatives. It's just less stressful that way. And if you're not sure which terminal, they are just next to each other (connected by a walkway)

You'll have to park the car and get out, unless you plan on circling around for an hour or more!

Please help. My parents will be flying in from US tomorrow and I will be picking them up. I will have no way of getting in touch with them when they land. Can anyone help me figure out which way I should drive and where they should come out so that we can meet ?

Thanks.
How did it go?? I'm dying to know. Seriously, it's my job to keep VFR happy (Visitors, Friends and Relatives), so any suggestions you have I will pass on.

Also, did you build a sign for your parents or did they remember what you looked like?

Aside: I once built a sign for a friend arriving at LHR. His name was Richard and I built a prominent "LONG DICK" sign and stood there trying to look impassive.

Some people laughed! Well, it made me happy...

No no .... 2 pages on finding Zurich airport.
Now we wait to find out if she got OUT ...... and then we can have another 2 pages of exiting Zurich airport.

Most times I dread going somewhere thinking it will be SO complicated ... and then find ....... aaaahhhh ... that was SO easy! Makes me feel like a "grown-up".
