Re: Riots in Zurich?

I've read this article and one thing is still unclear to me: did the police give a warning before actually starting shooting?
The last paragraph states that the illegal party was a revenge on the police after a similar illegal party at Hardbrücke was dispersed using similar methods.

Still, a nice new Plasma TV though.
Plasmas are so last decade. It's 60" backlit 3D LEDs now. You ripped yourself off!

It is.

On the scale of 1-10 compared to recent riots in England, this was a 1.

More of a disturbance, or commotion than a riot.

If it wasn't quiet and safe, this episode would have never made it to news... All I can say is that I live relatively close to Bellevue and the police made more noise and disturbance than the party-goers. Also, I quite don't get the friendly requests: "excuse me, young man, would you terribly mind to come down from that tram cabin, if that is not too much of a trouble and inconvenience...?"

Well, they weren't all party-goers. Some came prepared, hoodied and masked. These guys were hurling large bricks at the tram windows and not at the police. Not much fun when you're on the inside and the alternative is out into the tear gas fog...

Re: Riots in Zurich?

Well according to Blick am Abend the same group is planning a party at Central this weekend in response to the police breaking up peaceful parties with violence.

Maybe they should take this officers approach (Notting Hill Carnival):
