| | Here we go again!! New mania at Migros
Just when you thought you'd seen the last of these collecting fads, Migros comes up with another one.
This one is called Mountain Mania and runs until end October. It seems to be the trusty old sticker album format which I actually don't mind too much.
They're also running mountain days at various locations. Can't wait to have my photo taken in alpin gear when they come to Neuchatel. |

Also- She still plays with her nanos from time to time.
It's free, and you don't have to take them if you don't want to. |

I was hooked on the FIFA 2010 World Cup online album | | | | | The nanos actually make good paperweights.
Although you would need a couple or more of them together.

Some of these free promo items are good for learning more German - the last Trivial Pursuit one, for example. And the names of animals (in German) in another.

My son is looking forward to them already...
Well, at least it keeps my grandmum busy! She swaps the stickers with the other grannies of the neighbourhood who are all helping their grandchildren with their collections...
All my family religiously collects the promo things for my son! I have at least 100 nanos...

I didn't realise there was a new promo. Is it just me or when you go shopping without kids and spend loads (for a dinner party) that they don't try to give out the promo items |

I was embarrassingly bad at the trivial pursuit one in French but did learn an awful lot about Switzerland along the way.
I think this one could be OK too from what I've seen so far. It can't be worse than the nanos in any case.

Kids, for generations, have collected and swapped different things - it's part of being a kid (it was football cards in bubble gum packs, and marbles in my day).
Migros are just cashing in on this (albeit seemingly more frequently). There doesn't seem to be too much other cheap or harmless collectable choices for the kids, anyway (Panini World Cup/Euro's every 2yrs.).
If swapping in the playground keeps them out of the bars, massage parlours and casinos, then it can't be all bad.
We have to buy our food from somewhere; so Migros gets a bit more of the share, during these promotions - hopefully it will help keep their prices competitive.

If you would like to offload your unwanted ones, we'd gladly take them! We just had the animal stickers one in Germany at REWE, and everyday my 2 eager collectors were hoping for loads of stickers.
I have found the cashiers to be quite stingy with them - my bill came to 59.10 and she gave me only 2 (as technically is correct). Then I went back and bought a couple other things to make my total more than 60 (albeit in a separate transaction) and she went on about it being per purchase. But begrudgingly gave me the extra pack of stickers since I had spent over the limit. I am still mad at myself that today my total was 98.something and I didn't notice until after the transaction closed, or I would have bought one more item to put me over the threshold. I just get so darn nervous at check out time, especially trying to keep my son from running out of the store as by that time the cart is no longer holding his attention!
Anyways, pm me and I'd be happy to give you my address for you to take those stickers off your hands! With 2 books at 200 stickers each, you need to spends about 20bazillion CHF to get them all!

It's educational collectible stuff for kids - in fact, in their genre I find them superbly done, both from a professional (advertising) point of view and a customer/parent's point of view.

In all Migros supermarkets I've ever been/ regularly go to the cashier always asks the customers if he/she wants whatever promo item they have at the time. And the whole supermarket has posters advertising the promo and so on. (A good rule of thumb is: no posters advertising a new Lilibiggs promotion, there's no promotion at the moment )
Can't say the same about Coop, though. In two years I was offered the promotional stickers (the ones that allow you to redeem stuff at a special price) only ONCE (!) in spite of the fact during the promotions I was buying shitloads of stuff. You have to ask the cashier for any stickers or other promo stuff at Coop. Their promotions are like a well-garded secret. |

I can't believe anyone dislikes nanos - they're awesome!! Probably can't stack more than four ...
My only beef with the previous sticker ones is that they didn't put the scientific (Latin) name anywhere - a simple thing, and it would have made it an absolute breeze to work out the English name of absolutely everything in the books (instead of just 90-odd %). Would also have made it more educational, as the children would've seen at least a few 'family' connections in there ...
Oh, and I haven't really looked at the stickers yet, although we have an album and a bunch of them - are they good? I know the theme is 'mountains', but that's about it ... but if I get involved, then I tend to want to take over from the kids ... :/

I didn't really care much about the ocean one for some reason, but I've had a chance to skim through the new sticker book and is it really interesting, with lots of information and facts (about mountains all over the world), so I'm going to grab one for my older nephew.
The stickers itself are good pictures, although not as impressive as the pictures from the first Stickermania (that photographer was a god, I've seen his online portfolio *jawdrop*).
I don't know if there was a website associated with the previous sticker collections, but I discovered there's one this time, with some interesting features, including a virtual globe to explore where kids can visit the mountain locations and "collect" hidden animals and objects or answer educational quizzes that will ultimately earn them a printable "mountain explorer" diploma.

My son who is 5 really improved his geography with this latest collection. It's quite well done. The pictures on the stickers are quite nice, and sone of them are even in 3D you can touch them.
