Re: Guess the location - view(s) from your balcony or garden please

From my location, you'd know which mountain that is behind the church steeple.
Second picture was taken 50km away at a friend's house.

Could be, this was looking out towards Gossau from Willikonertsrasse
Yep same road lol, hope you are enjoying it here. We have spent the summer exploring the many Wanderwegs locally and it really does make you appreciate your surroundings.

I suppose I ought to take this thing seriously, so here's the view from our balcony:

That is gorgeous, I wonder if the Swiss enjoy these views as much as we all do or if they are just immune to the beauty on their own doorstep?

Before we moved here we had the view of a great big pylon in front of our house that frequently buzzed in the very frequent wet weather, having moved here we have miles of fields and farms around us and the Alps and forest at the bottom of our road, even after three years the sheer beauty of it still brings tears to my eyes.

Said OH, however, is in the USA. Here's the view from her desk over there:

Not a lot wrong with either of those as views from desks... what will the US one be like when the leaves fall though ? For all we know, there may be a gasworks, a nuclear power station or the municipal dump just behind those trees.

Sorry I have to disappoint you. Actually, what you can see when the foliage is down is our beach on West Grand Traverse Bay, Lake Michigan, with a glimpse on the gentle hills of Old Mission Peninsula across the water, with meadows, woods and vineyards (great wines, by the way!).

A few remainders of the long decommissioned nuclear plant at Little Rock near Petoskey are about 30 miles away, below the horizon. The regional dump is 25 miles in the opposite direction, and you will find it only after careful research. The nearest gasworks, as far as I now, is not in this state. We use natural gas.

Maybe you might want to widen your view of the US a little bit. Granted, there are a few urban areas that may be sort of yucky, but the fairly pristine rest is huge, possibly beyond most people's imagination.

Apologies, it wasn't supposed to be a dig at the US in particular, it was just the "what's behind the trees?" mystery. Had it been France or England I would have made the same (bad) joke.
