A Swiss Poem

This is an old one, but I'd like to share it with you all - here goes......
Suleika, meine liebe Frau,
ich nix mehr Arbeit hab auf Bau.
Auch Kollege schon entlassen,
Polier sagt: "Nix mehr Geld in Kassen."
Doch Du nix denken, das sei schlimm,
ich trotzdem froh und munter bin.
Den Allah hat mich nicht verdammt,
war gestern schon in Arbeitsamt.
Weil ich noch ein Jahr Aufenthalt
komm nicht nach Hause ich so bald,
muss meiden noch Moschee und Tempel,
zeig Arbeitsamt Papier - macht Stempel.
Das ganze Arbeit, nix mehr Bücken,
und kann noch immer Geld Dir schicken.
Hier scheint mir alles wie verhext:
Brauch nur zu schlafen - Konto wächst!
Und ganz bestimmt bis nächsten Winter,
zahlt Arbeitsamt mir Geld für Kinder.
Ich bin jetzt schon drei Jahre fort,
vielleicht hast du noch Kinder dort,
woh ich nix weiss? Ist ganz egal,
du musst mir melden nur die Zahl,
und schleunigst schicken mir nach hier
vom Arzt begläubigtes Papier.
Du sollst mal sehen wie dann geht munter,
Einkommen rauf und Steuern runter.
Heut Zahnarzt sagen: Ganz gewiss,
bis Montag hab ich neu Gebiss,
bis Mittwoch neue Brille,
für alles Wehweh viel gut Pille,
das alles macht mir sehr schön Spass,
weil alles zahlt die Krankenkass.
Wenn Ostern Oma kommt, will sehn,
dass sie auch kriegt so schöne Zähn,
damit nix warten muss bei Essen,
bis Opa fertig hat gegessen,
weil es doch immer besser is,
dass jeder hat sich selbst Gebiss.
Wir sind hier kleiner Kolonie,
und spielen Karten oft bis früh,
Isvrice, schönstes Land der Welt,
nix Arbeit und viel Stempelgeld,
ich wohn in Altbau noch ganz nett,
mit Wasser, Strom und auch Klosett,
ist Zimmerchen auch ziemlich klein,
fühl ich mich wohl als wie daheim.
Und Hausbesitzer lässt mich walten,
kann mir sogar Kaninchen halten;
war erst heut morgen noch ein krank,
hab’s rausgeholt aus Kleiderschrank,
hab den ganzen Tag es noch bewacht,
und dann am Abend notgeschlacht,
es gleich verkauft dann wieder weiter,
an einen Freund, auch Gastarbeiter.
Hast du auch unser Zelt geflickt
von Geld was hab ich dir geschickt?
Halt Einsamkeit noch ein Jahr aus,
dann bring ich Geld und baue Haus.
Vermiete Zelt dann mit viel List
an Schweizer, die dann als Tourist
will wohnen in Nomadenzelt,
weil ihnen das so gut gefällt.
Will wandern viel in Wüstensand,
weiss nicht, wie schön ist eignes Land.
Und nun ich machen Brief jetzt Schluss,
will senden dir ganz viel Gruss.
Bleib schön gesund, grüss alle Lieben,
sag ihnen: Ali hat geschrieben
aus Schweiz, ist schönstes Land der Welt,
wo man für Faulheit kriegen Geld.
Grüss auch Kollegen dort in Beiz,
sie sollen kommen hier in Schweiz.
Vorbei ist Armut, Not und Hungern,
weil sie in Teestub können lungern,
und wenn durchschaut man dieses Spiel,
können machen sie Asyl
und bleiben weiter ohne Not,
weil doch so lang nicht voll das Boot.

Re: A Swiss Poem

It's from the perspective of a "Gastarbeiter" working on the building site, who loses his job and is quite thrilled at being able to live off the state, ending in an invite to his friends to join him here. Like Phil said, a bit like what the SVP would publish...

Re: A Swiss Poem

A 'bit' SVP??

It's about a man from 'abroad' who writes to his wife Suleika back home, about how he is sponging on the poor Swiss and sending all the money home- and to tell her if she's had more children whilst he's been away, so he can add them to the 'sponging' total. A dreadful piece of stereotyping **** basically. Of course 'it does not apply to any foreigners on EF' just the 'other type'.

This, my learned fellow EF members is part of Switzerland. No intentional offence meant to any persons or otherwise - but if you get my point, this 'poem' has been doing the rounds for a long time.

Discuss........

No not me, I won't discuss judgement based on something the other person can do nothing about such as his/her origins, culture, religion or colour.
Good evening

Re: A Swiss Poem

Just a quick reminder,

this so-called poem was written by somebody who obviously had an axe to grind (yes very probably Blocher's speech writer) - but it wasn't me, my intentions are good.

Re: A Swiss Poem

The rhymes are poor, the metrum and rhythm a joke. Obviously a feeble mind at work.

You spread it, Blocher's speech writer is quite a bit better, and your excuses are even more cowardly than what can usually be expected of hate-mongers.

Re: A Swiss Poem

Get a grip - it's supposed to be a bit of humour and is ancient.

Google the first line of it and you'll get what I mean.

Might seem like humour to you, my friend, but you need to understand your audience a little better. For a forum dedicated to (largely) foreigners living in what is arguably* one of the institutionally least tolerant countries to non-indigenous people (judging by the position of SVP as the most supported party), there is a massive sensitivity here to anything which might be construed as racist or xenophobic.

So I suggest that you take the feedback and continue what has been a good start to your EF life with some interesting threads and posts, and don't dig the hole deeper by suggesting that nationalistic views can be funny

* I know it isn't like that day to day, and there are many other threads devoted to the topic, I'm just giving one view

OK, googling the first line shows that the same poem exists in Austria and Germany, so it isn't SVP-specific. Doesn't make it any better though.
