I've just moved into "la romandie" from zurich, and just before I came I sold my old bike, as it was anyway in pretty bad shape.

I was wondering whether you guys know some second-hand market place in the area where I could grab another city bike, like the one in Bürkliplatz in Zurich!

Or maybe I'm extremely lucky and someone's willing to sell me his or her bike

Well I think I found something, it's called

"marché des chômeurs" (market of the unemployed) at place de la Riponne, on thursdays from 8h to 19h, and "marché aux puces" at place chauderon also on thursdays from 9.30h to 19h.

I guess I'll have to check both of them unless someone knows whether it's easier to find bikes in one or the other

There are quite a few annual one-off bike sales around here eg. at Parc de Milan, but they usually take place at the start of Spring.

I've been to Tandem in Lausanne and they have a range of good second hand bikes.
Actually, there are quite a few bike shops around Lausanne that sell second hand bikes as well as new - put it into the EF 'search', and you'll get more examples of shops.

Or else you could try taking the boat and coming to one of the huge number of Vide Greniers which are presently happening on the other coast in France.
Went to one this morning and there is another in Anthy-sur-Leman tomorrow.
Rock-bottom prices - probably cheaper than in CH although one has to be a little choosy. There is a list published every month: google "Vide Greniers Haute Savoie" for a complete list.

There is tomorrow one of those Pro-Velo markets in Geneva, although according to its webpage there is first a sale for members of the club between 11.30 and 12.00 and only afterwards everyone else can check the bikes, so maybe the best ones are already gone by the time they let me in I might give it a try though, the other option is going to one of those markets on the other side but according to CFF it is a bit hard to get there by public transportation and I don't own a car, but I might try that if I find nothing around here!

I'll also check these second-hand shops! that too seems very convenient
