ref the sailing permits.

Would the sailing permit and a power boat permit be different exams - or do the swiss bundle everything into a general boating competency certificate, a bit like the yachtmaster in the UK ?
And stupidly even being a yachtmaster offshore doesn't allow you to sail on the Zurichsee! LOL

Hi All,

I was thinking to buy a boat next year. The question I have is if you don't have a mooring, and just keep the boat in the garage, when you go a put it into any lake do you have to pay anything for using slopes (not sure what they are called) to get the boat into the water? Also, could I just use my boat in any lake?

thanks!
For motor boats with 8hp motor or less you do not need a "drivers" permit for yourself. The boat needs a permit & regular check - same as a car - you get a boat number & have to have a Vorfuhrung every 3 years.
Special conditions exist for Bodensee (lake Constance) otherwise so far as I know you can use it in any river or lake.
