| | What's the first thing you think of when you hit Swiss ground?
Hi and hallo,
what is the first thing that goes through your mind as the aircraft (or whatever means of transport) is about to land on Swiss territory and you're nearly (perhaps at your removed) home?
Mine is - Passport, Aufenthaltsbewilligung, lakes, mountains, Passport (again), lakes, mountains..............................

I always think of the previous Pope, whom always kissed the ground; but then maybe he was just scared of flying?

"Is it this terminal or the other terminal where you get to ride the little Heidi-train?"

I'm normally trying to work out if I can get the next S16 and how long the passport queue is.

Having spent the week in a nice little Derbyshire village with lots of friendly locals and not a sour face or an anal retentive for miles, for once I am not looking forward to coming back to Switzerland.
Cheers,
Nick

1 camera in English, 3 in French, and the radar trap where I managed to convince them not to take my licence... hmmm... should still be under 1000€ total...
hope they don't search the car at the border into Swiss...

What Nick said.
Replace Derbyshire with lots of other places where people are friendly, open and not completely rigid.

I always wonder why are these idiots clapping when we land, and why are they all jumping out of their seats as soon as the wheels touch the run way and standing cramped in the aisle while i finish reading my book in peace.

'Home' - exactly the same (but completely different) as when I hit UK soil 'Home'. | The following 3 users would like to thank for this useful post:

I'd hate an American equivalent too - but I find the Swiss version adorably kitschy.
(I suppose it's how DB must have felt about all those truck stops in Ohio, with the faux-crystal dragons and framed prints of Mrs. Obama as the Statue of Liberty...)

Always felt comfy in Derbyshire and of course, parts of Staffs, and Yorkshire Dales, so reminiscent of my native Jura limestone country. First time I went to Dovedale I felt, yes, this feels right. And Malham Cove, Creux-du-Van's little sister. Is Ye Olde Cheese Shope still open in Hartington?
The Roaches though - very different- big, wind-swept round boulders- Arizona in grey, wonderful.

I swear, I can't recall ever flying on any other airline where folks clap on landing. I had to resist the urge on many occasions to stand up and inform the passengers that the pilot is paid to get you there alive and doesn't need an ovation. | The following 7 users would like to thank poptart for this useful post:
