Swiss male wedding attire

Swiss fashion is a well trodden path on this forum and I have nothing to add to those threads....but what is it with Swiss men and wedding attire?

Maybe it is better in the cities, but walking through town this morning and seeing couples on their way to weddings....with girls looking nice and guys looking like.....well, remember when they used to dress monkeys for the PG Tips adverts, the clear discomfort of the poor chimps dressed in ill-fitting clothes they just weren't built to wear....

I feel so sorry for the guys being forced to wear shirts, ties and suits, less sorry for them choosing to wear trainers with it, or ties loosened a couple of buttons worth....and sorry for the girls who have gone to so much trouble for the day

Re: Swiss male wedding attire

Un-ironed poloshirts and jeans were de rigeur at our wedding from the Swiss contingent.

I was told that I should be happy to see the person and not what they're wearing but I wouldn't turn up to anyone's special day looking like I've been dragged through a hedge so was I unreasonable to expect it of other people?

I would feel like I were disrespecting someone's wedding after all the trouble they had gone to to scrub up and find somewhere posh and lovely to have a gorgeous meal.
