One of the best Thai restaurants in Kanton ZH is there - but don't tell anyone...

I lived in Thalwil for 7 years. I moved away some time ago, but ironically found a job there recently and now commute there for work.

In a nutshell: convenient, nice access to the lake and nature in the hills behind (biking up to Horgenberg is amazing). The main advantage: very good and regular train connections into Zurich. A great Coop and Migros. Good selection of restaurants (2 Thai, 1 Chinese, numerous Italian, great Kebab stand at the station). Many specialty shops, banks, post office, 2 fitness clubs.

But it is a bedroom community, meaning in the evening it is totally dead. But with the proximity to Zurich, it's all good.

Also very low local tax rates.

I was christened in the Reformed Church there. I don't remember much to be honest though.

The train station has superb links all over the area and Thalwil is an easy commute to Zürich, Zug and Luzern.
