This is one of the reason why I am truly intrigued by Switzerland. I have found it to be a land of fascinating contradiction.

Zug is full of Auslanders(True) & were driving all the swiss out(False). Well, I know there are quiet a few Swiss in my company who are very happy... Probably because their families own the real estate in old town Zug. So I think they are loving the meteoric rise in housing prices. But I digress. Lets go back to these nasty greedy fat fingered Auslanders who are driving away all the Swiss.
  • Who sets the corporate Tax rate - The Swiss
  • Who has proposed to make them even more attractive - The Swiss
  • Who runs the municipalities and governing bodies - The Swiss
  • Who allows companies to use Zug as a Tax haven - The Swiss
  • Who sells their land for vast profit so that they can squeeze in more companies and housing - The Swiss
  • Who is organizing, planning & approving the demolishment of the Low Income/Social housing to make way for Executive apartments - Nope.. Don't think that was us Auslanders.
  • Who approves Ghastly Highrise Towerblocks which ruin the skyline and are totally out of character with the Canton - Nope, not the expats who are pouring there cash into overpriced locally owned businesses.
Seems to me, that it is the well connected and well heeled Swiss who are driving out their less well off countrymen & women. So yes, the remaining Swiss in Zug probably are very happy indeed
The answer to all of those questions is 'the Zugers' not 'the Swiss'. You would find, on asking a lot of other Swiss, that they think the Canton of Zug has messed up big time.
That is the other difficulty in Switzerland, you can't dump every Swiss into one basket. The differences between residents of one Canton to the next are huge.

I agree 100% with Nielsinzurich, very well said which is absolutely true as well.

The proof for this statement is go and look at all the forum posts they hit people especially ausländers haahahh only with money! They love not even themselves but they love only their money!
Exactly. Such a forum always is a reliable source, isn't it? It's like a forum covering certain medications, where you find all the adverse effects ever noticed by, say, a few hundred people worldwide, whereas, of course, those who are happy with their med usually won't hang around on forums telling everybody and their uncle how great they are doing.

Exactly, I agree with your view. The Swiss are the ones shooting themselves in the foot!

Re: The happiest Swiss live in... Zug?

I was referring to - how do I put this without the Forum bursting out laughing - lightheartedness. OK OK - relative to the other Germanic cantons .

The Swiss in Zug are supposed to look more on the bright side of life compared to their peers. Don't shoot the messenger.

Swiss people are only happy when they see money, so I guess the happiest of them all are living in Zug or Schwyz indeed

I am living in Zug & even dead swiss bodies open their mouth if they see some coins,,,,

But I agree that ZUg is the best city in switzerland,, its calm and quiet,,,

... although the S-Bahn was in a right old state this evening ! Got on the train at Rotkreuz, went halfway to Cham, stopped for 10 minutes in the middle of nowhere, reversed back to Rotkreuz at walking speed, had to get a bus to Cham, then another S-Bahn to Zug. I wonder what that was all about?

Well everyone is happy in a different place. For me for sure not any part of Switzerland. I left, felt like I wasted 12 months of my time. The nature is beautiful but only if you have money to hide or nothing to loose its a perfect place.

Or, to use your own logic, many expats don't even love their homeland, they love only their money!!!!
Well said. I have noticed this a lot recently among fellow expats here in Switzerland. They do seem to hate their homeland and focus all their attention on the money.
I really love my homeland though and i came to Switzerland mainly because of the incredible nature, i can not believe that its not being held in a higher regard among many people.
Earning a good living that does not have to be eaten up by crazy taxes that naive politicians throws away is a good bonus of course.

Can't be true, there are no happy swiss. Have a look at the people in the train/tram/bus/car during rush hour.
But all the people in the Zug train are smiling
