Post when not at home..

I am expecting a parcel that is not registered post. Most likely, it will not fit in the small locked part of the mailbox.

Does any one know if the postman put it in the open part or put in a slip even though its not registered post ??

Re: Post when not at home..

My postman usually puts such parcels in the open part of the mailbox, but I guess this depends on the area and the postman. In my case, the post boxes are inside the locked vestibule of the apartment, so it's pretty secure.

When I first moved in, I didn't realise that there WAS a larger post box behind the locked letterbox, so several items were left in there, and I was anxiously chasing people telling them that their parcels had not arrived!!!

Re: Post when not at home..

As a registered user of Swiss Post, I just received news of improved parcel delivery.
Now receive parcels even more flexibly

Dear Sir or Madam

The wait is over! From today, you can manage the delivery of your parcels yourself. Choose an option for your parcel as soon as it is announced or is out for delivery to your address. To do so, use the “My consignments” online service.

You are not at home on the scheduled day of delivery? Then determine a day (Monday to Saturday) when the parcel should be delivered. Would delivery in the early morning or in the evening suit your planning better? Then arrange early or evening delivery. Would you like to receive your parcel at another address or a PickPost point? Swiss Post will also fulfil this wish for you.

The new services supplement the previous options of depositing, delivery to a neighbour or to an upper floor. Many services can be combined with one another. Would you like to arrange for your parcels to be deposited permanently or indicate preferred days for delivery? Define these as permanent settings. Information at www.swisspost.ch/my-consignments

As you can see, receiving parcels flexibly is quite easy.

We will ensure your parcels arrive safely.

Re: Post when not at home..

It's the evening delivery (5pm to 8pm) you need to watch out for. CHF20!

Seriously?! It's interesting how you seem to expect everybody to go out of his way for free (may it be electricity in restaurants or overtime of post-staff). You're some kind of blue-blood descent? (Even their staff gets payed since slavery was abolished).

Seriously? I never said I expected that or anything else to be free. Merely pointing out that if you want an evening delivery it's not free - which is what most people would probably expect these days.

LOL, <<you need to watch out for>> and <<>> and - apart from the impression I got reading your posts - I don't know absolutely anybody who would expect things for free. I personally am always very happy and greatful when ever I do get something for free and never, ever take it for granted. As I'm always aware that somebody just decided doing me a favour was worth missing out on making a profit. Which is quiet flattering actually.
